Seeing the news about SPACE-X toilets and a question occurred to me.

WHY?
Why are we worried about leaks?
Why not just eject the stuff into space?
Decaying orbit and it'll eventually burn up in the atmosphere.

So why save it?

Everything that ends up in orbit is a potentially deadly projectile.

Could you imagine getting hit by a frozen turn at 18,000 miles per hour?
I gotta imagine it wouldn't be pretty.

It takes a fair amount of fuel to deorbit something. The ISS is at a high enough altitude that orbital decay from there would take many decades. Meanwhile there would be thousands of waste bags cluttering the same orbit as the space station to smash into anything that approaches.

It might be better to filter and drink the pee and grow potatoes in the poo.
