Today's the Day: Birthright Citizenship

Yes thats why Trump keeps losing.

Trump keeps losing? Gee, I wonder what shortwave band you are tuned into? Trump has been winning on practically everything, knocking it out of the park.

They have this echo chamber they live in.....where reality is just a memory.

When Trump wins.....they say he lost.

They can't ever admit they're wrong about everything.

All that matters....is the world can go to total shit because Orangeman Bad.

SCOTUS will make their decision today, which ends the term. IMO if SCOTUS doesn't smack it down, then the deportations should increase. We simply cannot afford all these services for children of illegals.

Today's decision had no impact on birthright citizenship. It dealt with district judges overstepping their authority by making rulings nationwide.

It was much more consequential than the birthright issue.

The District courts have just been neutered, rightly so.
But then, in the future, when a president issues an executive order banning and confiscating all guns from its citizens, which would CLEARLY be unconstitutional, this SC has ruled the E/O could not be stayed by the district judge for the Nation, and all other districts would have their guns confiscated until their district has a lawsuit and their district judge stays the E/O...there are +/- thousands of districts....millions of citizens would have their guns unconstitutionally taken from them, without a district court stay affecting the Nation, as the court case works its way up to the Supreme Court....

Yep. That's what they've "accomplished". So much winning. :(

Nothing has changed. I'm not sure why you don't understand that.

A district judge bans guns or a President attmpts to ban guns and then the process just works its way up to the SCOTUS. Meanwhile, the rest of the nation gets to keep their guns until it is resolved.

District judges have authority in ONLY their districts. No other.

Which could take months.

Not unless the lower courts can issue injunctions. This decision blocks that, and now a President can rule by EO and it will be in effect until the issue "works its way up to the SCOTUS".

Look up "injunction".
I know what it means. What is your point? A district judge is exceeding his/her authority when they issue a nationwide injunction.

They simply have no authority to do so and the SCOTUS pretty much told them that.

I bet twelve internet shekels SCOTUS doesn't actually touch the birthright argument and just handles the issue of the impact of judge decisions nationwide.
Same here

Roberts will not vote with with the majority to overturn

So he will seek to avoid any decision at all

That is correct and it is exactly how it is supposed to work.

The injunction affects ONLY the district in which the judge has authority. The parties in that district can then appeal it upward if they don't like the court's solution.

Rule by EO is NOT how it's supposed to work. Executive orders aren't supposed to be a workaround when Congress won't approve the President's agenda. But that's how they're being used.
