Time to rename our Confederate Forts

Its 2020 and the Democrats are the party of censorship and cancelling everything
You're very confused. Censorship isn't when private businesses decide what they say or don't say. Censorship is what your cult leader suggests routinely, when he suggests using the force of the government against people who say mean things about him. Get it straight.

Canceling is what you repubs do whenever anyone doesn't show 100% loyalty to the cult leader.

Try to remember....these.movements around the confederate symbols are purely grassroot movements. You trump cultists are the one taking your orders from dear leader.

Basically, you have it all ass backwards. But thanks for chiming in.

Censorship can be private or governmental. And when we are talking about the global and almost monopolistic network, the difference became pretty tiny and insignificant, especially when it is obviously politically motivated.

There is forgiveness and there is celebration.
Nobody is punishing the South. We just refuse to keep celebrating a Confederacy that was abhorrent to humanity.

A nation that was 40% slave is something to be honored?

Part of the forgiveness was allowing and accepting their celebration of their veterans and heroes.

As you well know.

All nations and all heritages are mixed bags. That you only hold some groups heritages and celebrations to high standards while giving others a pass,

is you being the racist and the bigot here, not me, not the SOutherns. YOU.

You are the bad guy and you know it.

The main issue was no more slave labor

As I said, the main issues were all resolved as the Union wanted, to the benefit of the blacks, at the expense of the Southerns and your claim otherwise, is just you being a liar.

Expense of Southerners?

No more free labor

Expense of Southerners?

No more free labor

So, you admit that your claim that the issues were resolved at the expense of blacks, was just you lying?

Cause, "no more free labor" is certainly not the blacks losing out, as you claimed.

Or, do you just say whatever stupid shit is required at the moment, for you to be an ass?

Let me repeat the obvious: the “happy reconciliation” of whites after the abandonment of Reconstruction and the acceptance of Jim Crow apartheid in the South meant a) degredation over four more generations for African Americans, turned into a despised, discriminated against, disenfranchised and terrorized race color caste — despite the formal passage of the Reconstruction Amendments, and b) was based on the acceptance of white supremacy and “noble Lost Cause” mythology as an integral part of American ideology.

In short the South lost the war, but racism emerged in a powerful new cultural form, one that also guaranteed future divisions among American workers and hence advantages to U.S. capitalists. Today, fifty years after the Civil Rights Movement ended legal Jim Crow, this view is — more or less — the prevailing view among serious American historians. It also, IMO, is true. Recognizing these simple truths will, I believe, help Americans find their way forward to greater racial harmony and progress.

Never forgiving nor forgetting past injustices will NOT move America forward to finding greater racial harmony and progress.

It is instead an receipt for the exact opposite, ie ever great racial animosity and strife.

That your view is the prevailing view among Historians, is a sign of the decline of American academia and American civilization.

It is also worth noting that your response to previous points, was instead of addressing them, to simply reasserting your premise.

That is not a sign of a well support position.

Not to worry!

President Biden will appoint a commission to recommend name changes.

He will probably name his VP to be the chair.

I am sure that she will come up with some real doozies!

Actually this is a good point! The renaming of forts, the removing of particularly egregious statues, like the already accomplished removal of Confederate flags over courthouses and state capital buildings — these are all in the end only symbolic changes. Not at all difficult or costly to grant.

Our ruling elites will give them up much, much more readily than they will give up their tax benefits, Federal Reserve money and credit bailouts of speculative crony capitalism, dark money unlimited spending on election campaigns, their swollen MIC and their overseas military adventurism, etc.

If you want to get your mind blown, take a trip to Mississippi and visit Vicksburg. It's a national battlefield that is maintained by the National Parks Service.

If you don't know the history of what happened there, it's really quite remarkable from the perspective of both sides really. As one who grew up in the South, the stories of bravery were very touching even if you despise the institution that the Southerners were fighting to uphold.

Anyway, what is mind blowing is that every state that had soldiers who fought there have erected monuments on the grounds of the battlefield. The monuments, as I understand, were made from stone and material that was indigenous to the state they honor. Texas has that shitty limestone and looks different than the other statues made from conventional materials. It would be fun to see if red states would have coughed up the dime today to honor their dead in a state hundreds of miles away that few natives would ever visit. I'm guessing not.

We need to ask......What have these men done to deserve such an honor?

AP HIll, Braxton Bragg, George Pickett, John Bell Hood......why should they be honored?

Democrats erasing their history. Only the mouth breathing party base believes this is about Confederates. All we need now is the thought police and we can call George Orwell a prophet

George Orwell was a prophet to my mind. A “democratic socialist“ prophet against totalitarianism in all its forms.

That is your history. The southern Dixiecrats all became card carrying Republicans. Like the Confederate History, you are trying to rewrite it to not make yourself look like the POSs that you really are. We ain't buying what you are selling. But you go ahead with your narrative.

Everyone of the racist southern Democrats stayed in the party except for Strom Thurmond. The South didn't turn majority Republican until the 80's 20 years after the Civil rights movement. You are historically retarded.

Socialism doesn't work without the totalitarianism.

You keep repeating that Narrative but we ain't buying it.

Take it up with George Orwell.
