Time to Pull the Plug on EV’s

But a cleaner product to combust than gasoline or diesel would be natural gas which is abundant and relatively cheap. It's already commercially viable and is a high energy density source compared to battery technology.

Hey, you're making sense.
Did you hack ding's account?

I'm not exactly sure of the chemistry but if we could access the hydrogen in such things as bio-diesel, Natural Gas Liquids, Methanol, and clean coal technology (turns yellow coal into diesel)

We could do that. But why? You waste a large portion of the energy in the feedstock and you still end up relesing CO2, so what's the benefit?

That'd be a great idea!! It's not like hydrogen has a tendency to leak or corrode metal.

What's the benefit again?
Hopefully to keep infrastructure such as existing gas mains and boilers, with minor modifications. More achievable than trying to upgrade the electric network, plus, too costly to heat water and your home with electric.

As it's possible to produce hydrogen at home, it's kinda like the solar panel idea of using what you've produced first and sell back what you don't need, if that's viable because I've no idea

Using electricity to make hydrogen and using that hydrogen to heat your home and water would be a lot more expensive than just using the electricity for heat and water.

Lol. Funny that you think anyone has a plan but can not point to it.
Our electrical grid is just about maxed out. We are not building new power plants. But yet crazy fools are pretending that we will replace millions of cars with EVs. Some even point to wind and solar. Of course they can not explain how we are going to cover most of the ground with all that and still eat but it is a good pipe dream.
The US already gets over 23% of it's electricity from Wind & Solar & it's growth is just getting started. Renewables are already the largest source of electricity in the US behind Nat Gas. Renewables generate many times more than all electric vehicles will ever use.

It's called electrolysis, not hydrogen generator or hydrogen generation. Electrolysis. The process takes place in a unit called an electrolyzer, not a generator. Electrolyzer.

That's not what it's called when you get it from natural gas.

More like 12%.

Renewables are already the largest source of electricity in the US behind Nat Gas.

Coal produces more than wind and solar.

Nuclear produces more than wind and solar.

Yeah, lots of stupid, wasteful stuff is happening.
Probably to collect government subsidies. Or meet government mandates.
Or get brownie points from the greens.
Actually the potential benefits of hydrogen - if they can solve the commercial and technical challenges (which are daunting) - is huge. Replacing natural gas home boilers with hydrogen fired boilers wouldn't have been my first choice though.

Only because we'll never have all that many.
