Three years left to limit warming to 1.5C, leading scientists warn

After reading through the comments on this discussion, it's becoming clear that denialists' faith against AGW is mostly based on their faith that only the god can cause climate change.

There's no possibility of changing their minds on that!
That’s idiotic. Do better.

I blame continental drift ... and the formation of the Rocky Mountains ... starting with the break up of Gondwana and the spreading of the Atlantic Ocean ... what was once tropical rain forest is now open ocean ... you know ... climate change ...

Not sure what the gods of the semi-evolved hairless rodents had to do with any of that ...

The sun is remarkably constant. I suspect the biggest role it plays is in wind currents which plays a role in ocean currents but the main driver is temperature related density differences.
Over the period of decades, yes. But the Maunder Minimum was caused by reduced solar output.

We may be approaching another Maunder Minimum if the Sun continues to run cold.

The Little Ice Age started before the Maunder Minimum began, suggesting that reduced solar activity wasn't the sole or even primary cause of the climate shift.

Earth is not warming.

100% proven by the fact that Earth Surface Air Pressure is trending slightly down...

My money is on ocean currents.
What do you think drives those ocean currents?

Here's a hint. It's called heat. Where does that heat come from?

The Sun.

Density differences - salinity and temperature - and wind.

Can you walk me through how the sun initiates a glacial period and then initiates an interglacial period.

Heat, or the lack thereof is what alters ocean currents. When the Sun goes cold, the amount of energy warming the oceans, which is what regulates the climate, decreases. That is what drives the currents in the first place.

Remove the heat, and the currents change, or cease if severe enough.

What drives ocean currents, in your opinion.

Surface currents are driven by the wind ... by the large scale circulation ... Atmospheric circulation - Wikipedia ...

The hottest part of the atmosphere is at the equator on the surface ... the coldest is aloft above the poles ... convection drives the winds, the winds drive surface currents ...

oh gosh here we go again...

the "water causes ice" third grade flunkies...

. Salinity differences and temperature differences are also factors.

That is partially true, but temperature and salinity changes are every bit as important.
