This Will Be The Test For Man Made Climate Change

Climate science is taught in vocational schools and community colleges...

Climatology is a degree program at a few universities with Atmospheric Science departments ...

And neither one of them makes somebody a climate scientist. That basically requires a Ph.D in atmospheric phsyics, followed by years of postdoc work in the field.

UCLA offers a BS in Climatology ... Extract from UCLA's course catalog
What kind of a job do you suppose one could get with a BS in climatology? I am thinking it's the probably the same job a graduate with a BS in Geology could get.

I bet none of them will hire a grad with just a BS is what I am saying.

Why do you say that? ... I understand degrees in 13th Century Occitan literature are worthless, but STEM degrees tend to have better prospects ...
Because that’s what I have seen with geology degrees. I’m assuming it’s no different than climatology degrees. To be useful it must be an advanced degree.

Pffffft ... O-1 military scale ...

There's a hell of a lot more jobs for geologists at that Indeed.com site ... a couple of mudloggers are needed right close to where I live ... NPS is hiring ...

Why do you think it's difficult to get a decent job with a geology degree? ...

Because mud logging isn’t a decent job for a generation lift grad.

Look I’m only telling you what I saw from working with G&G guys for 36 years at large oil and gas companies.

Geology and geophysics. Two different roles. Never worked with one who didn’t have at least a MS.

Is this a hobby of yours, checking your co-workers' degrees? ... I know geology is important in the oil industry, but geology is important in a number of industries ... not like astronomers where about the best you could hope for is teaching at a community college or something ...

Geology is math heavy, a fella could code for computers and make a decent living ...

It’s more like intellectual butt sniffing. Don’t tell me you didn’t do it.

If you want to believe a BS in climatology is useful, have at it. I suspect it’s not.

I can generally tell a persons scientific understanding just by speaking with them ... I don't need to know their GPA from college or anything ...

All you asked was about job availability ... I answered ... you don't have to be rude and claim I said the BS was a hot money prospect ... it's going to civil service, working at a forecast office somewhere ... if you don't think weather forecasts are useful, fine with me ... with your utter ignorance about socialism on full display, I don't doubt you think it's impossible to get a BS in climatology or meteorology ... in your narrow world-view, your suspicions are worthless ...

So in casual conversation you never asked which school did you go to and what’s your degree. Pretty common stuff.

Relax, bro. Don’t take it personal.

No it's not ... I've never asked which school or what degree ... maybe you do, but that doesn't make it common ...

I'll relax when you withdraw the claim I said climatology degrees are worth wild ... I never did ... all I claimed is a BS is available ... I know you're not stupid, why on Earth did you think I said anything else? ...

I never said you said climatology degrees were worthwhile. You must be confusing me with someone else. I don’t believe a BS in climatology or a BS in geology is enough to get placed in those fields of work.

Just because you never asked anyone you worked with which school they went to or which degree they graduated with doesn’t mean it’s not common. From my experiences it is quite common. I saw everyone ask those questions.
