Let's review, shall we? In chronological order:
Anyone trying to compare or equate the above facts with what Pence or Biden have done is a blatant liar.
- Around two years ago, the National Archives tried to verify that Trump had returned any classified documents. This was no big deal, since they knew documents may have accidentally been removed when Trump vacated the White House. It happens.
- There were many, many communications back and forth. For months. They were told there were no more documents.
- When they couldn't get Trump to act, the Archives gave up and turned the case over to the Justice Department.
- The Justice Department contacted him, and once again, there were communications back and forth for months. They were told there were no more documents.
- The Justice Department finally gave up and served a subpoena for the documents.
- The Justice Department learned that he had not complied with the subpoena.
- The Justice Department then went to a judge, and showed probable cause (they were clearly getting ACCURATE LEAKS from TRUMP'S PEOPLE) and got a warrant.
- Upon executing the warrant, they discovered far more documents than they expected.
- This is when they began to receive tips, and then testimony, from Trump employees about the hiding and moving of documents.
- During this time Trump is waving these critical documents around to friends and admitting that he could no longer declassify them.
- A Grand Jury was empaneled, a full investigation began, and through text messages, emails, actual voice recordings, sworn testimony of Trump employees and Trump attorneys, and attorney's notes, it was concluded that Trump and his employees conspired to lie about the existence of the documents, kept critical documents in bathrooms and ballrooms (no, really) and literally moved boxes of documents around so that they would not be discovered.
- Trump was indicted, based on direct evidence and sworn testimony received from HIS OWN PEOPLE.

Trump admitted in public He directed and took the National defense documents packed with his personal records, and he's claimed they were his.....
As I've said, trump really needs to keep his trap, shut. The case against him is stronger, due to his own mouth.

Poster M'58 gave us a succinct chronological listing of the events. Of course, it can't have all the nuances that developed over those months of attempts to get the People's documents back. It's just a compact bullet-pointing of major developments and the reactions that they engendered.
One of the 'nuances' (actually, it ain't a nuance at all, it is a big friggin' deal!).....but what we all need to recognize is that staffers within the Trump orbit, some of them....maybe all of them (?)..... were on the grounds of Mar-A-Lago. And on multiple occasions were the ones dropping a dime on Don Trump's obstruction of the FBI's efforts with his shuffling the boxed documents around to keep them away from authorities.
Lemme repeat: "Trump's own people" - were snitching out his efforts to obstruct the FBI.
And that is just one of the aspects of this case that add credibility to the subpoena, the search warrant, and the charges within the indictment. The FBI and the DOJ had multiple 'Sherpas' on the inside giving them a heads-up. The FBI was being guided by insiders.

When his office was packed for his personal documents, the classified documents were likely boxed and sent to his home, office, or think tank office...
That's a mistake, not a criminal act. He did not knowingly take them them for his own personal use, as Trump did....and Trump admitted he did....
Nor did Biden refuse to return the classified documents, to the governnent.... As Trump did.
All Trump had to do, was return them....
but arrogantly and recklessly, he chose the criminal route instead.

Trump knew he had 'em. He himself packed some of the boxes....per reportage on the indictment.
And Trump obstructed the People's efforts to get their secrets returned and properly secured.

#1 The NARA doesn't pack boxes when a Presidents Administration ends, that would be the administration staff. Typically pack and designate the material for shipment.
#2 The GSA then contracts to move materials to locations designated by the outgoing administration. Personal items go to the Presidents home, Presidential records are then turned over to the NARA for inventory, control, and custody.
#3 This is also false. Materials that were turned over to the NARA at the end of the administration, the 15 boxes (or so) that the NARA received in the spring of 2022, and Presidential Records seized under the search warrant (excluding those retained as evidence for criminal cases) - were transported and are being stored in a proper NARA facility in the D.C. area. To claim that the NARA isn't storing Trump Administration records in a proper facility is wrong. Where do you think the NARA is storing this material?
