This quote from a Reagan appointed judge perfectly encapsulates trump's first two 1/2 weeks.

I don't see any law that confirms his decision. So I'm asking you which one? you see, Trump can because of this one little phrase in the amendment

"Subject to the jurisdiction thereof"
There is NO Law

They are referring to CASE LAW pursuant to

The SCOTUS case known as United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898)

In the Wong Kim Ark case , Justices Fuller and Harlan dissented . 169 US 705.

Their dissent clearly shows that birthright citizenship has no Constitutional basis and SCOTUS should overturn the precedent/

Judge slams Trump while extending block on birthright citizenship order

A federal judge in Seattle has accused President Donald Trump of brazenly defying the law by seeking to end birthright citizenship in the United States.

U.S. District Judge John Coughenour said during a hearing Thursday that Trump’s executive order is flagrantly unconstitutional, and he extended a temporary hold on the policy.

The executive order is now subject to two nationwide injunctions issued by separate judges on consecutive days. The injunctions keep the policy on ice while legal challenges proceed.

Coughenour, an appointee of President Ronald Reagan, let loose on Trump for his dismissive approach toward legal constraints.

“It has become ever more apparent that to our president, the rule of law is but an impediment to his policy goals. The rule of law is, according to him, something to navigate around or simply ignore, whether that be for political or personal gain,” the judge said. “Nevertheless, in this courtroom and under my watch, the rule of law is a bright beacon which I intend to follow.”

It's good to see this coming from a conservative judge. It tells that while congressional Repubs are too afraid to speak out about the initiation of autocratic rule there are some rank and file members of the party who are not.

I was heartened by his words since they indicate Dem's are not the only ones who see what is happening. If the shocking lawlessness and abuses of power continue I think we'll be hearing from more Repubs like Judge Coughenour.

Problem with birthright citizenship is what the fuck are you supposed to do, when both illegal parents use their offspring to live as if they're legal, at such great levels.

Founding Fathers were wise, and wildly before the 14th amendment of 1968. I doubt that confederate democrat POTUS Andrew Johnson's Govt. thought much into the effect of their actions, Democrats are like that, less their own pocketbooks perhaps. I say change it to read a parent must be a citizen. But since leftists don't view fathers as having rights to more than child support payments, we can say the mother must be a citizen. Besides, it would be nice to see some consistent leftism beyond the MFing lies and misdeeds.

When that happens we can discuss it.

Illegal immigration skyrocketed during the Biden-Harris Administration. The Center for Immigration Studies estimates that in 2023, there were 225,000 to 250,000 births to illegal immigrants, amounting to close to seven percent of births in the U.S.
Can parents of a US-born child stay in the US?

Birthright citizenship does not automatically grant legal status to the parents. The child's birth in the U.S. does not change the immigration status of the parents, and they may still be subject to deportation if they are in the country without authorization................In other terms, dollars to donuts immigration authorities let them remain if they're otherwise decent people, because after all, they're a citizen's parents. It's stupid, they need to amend the 14th.

That was very limited in scope. I’m waiting on where it states illegals

OK........I bet some of them were even named Miguel. Now to the actual point?

Read it again. Try using your head too, that would be great.

Read what? That immigration grew under Biden? I never argued it didn't and that wasn't what I replied to.

It’s not immigration, it’s an invasion

His first 21 days in office showed 21 straight days of the voters approving of his job performance.

Trump doesn't have any understanding of either the Constitution or the presidency. He is profoundly uninformed and dangerously incurious. Everything he says and does is merely an attempt to gain acceptance and validate himself and his brittle self esteem. Flatter him and he loves you. For now.

Not just my opinion. This has been stated by MANY who have worked closely with him. And much worse has been said.

The country voted him in, if only by 1.5%. We deserve what we get.

If I heard this correctly, Trump has now brought home ten americans held in prisons in other countries. And what has this Judge done? Name one fking thing this low life idiot judge has done.

I agree that birthright citizenship is not something trump can deny through an EO
