Rent food utilities transportation to medical……they get it all done. Anyway they need it. Strollers, carseats, diapers, trash removal…..all is not free to regular Americans. They inspect ad give them whatever needed. There are not clusters of frozen starving no diaper sick babies all over inner cities and or suburbs. Big GOVT will either help the single mom or take over the babies if need be. Yes, it is costly. Especially oi the coastal cities like LA or Baltimore. Where are the fathers? More babies….more pay.

I have co-workers in this position. Its not some walk in the park. If your working, the system penalizes you to discourage you from working. I have seen co-workers pass up raises, because the $1 raise per hour isnt enough to offset the loss in benefits, and some of these benefits are substantial. 90% child care covered, medical insurance, food stamps - SNAP $150 a month for mom and 1 child, and then its a stipend per extra kid, rental assistance. Its even worse if your white.

Say it aint so but our black employees coach our white employees on how to navigate the disaster of working parents. One wrong move and the system completely drops you. Then your in a real pickle. And these arent dregs of society, these are hard working moms and dads just trying to make it better for their families.

The system sucks. Drug tests would go a long way in curbing the abuse of the system, job requirements that encourage you to get off the system instead of trying to keep you poor. You make $10 over the cut off, your completely cut off. They dont ween you off til your independent on can be on your own with out help. No. The moment you begin to make even slightly more money, they cut off all assistance, suck to be you. And that cut off is peanuts. $32K a year I think it is. You make $32,001 you lose all benefits. If you were barely making it at 30,000 with help, losing it all over a small raise and its over for you, you lose everything you have worked for. Where is the encouragement?

You morons don’t even bother educating yourselves on the basic facts of poverty. The causes can be complex. There is not some major blanket reason for why it happens. Some people are poor because of mental illnesses. Some people are poor because of major misfortune they couldn’t have planned for. The biggest reason why people are poor is because higher paying jobs are extremely competitive. It’s simply inevitable people will be in poverty because of how common those types of jobs are. It’s simply mathematically impossible for them all to get better paying jobs. The opportunity simply doesn’t exist for all those people. And even if it was mathematically possible, who would be left behind to do all those service jobs vital to the economy? No one would be left behind you dumb fuck.

While “bad choices” is certainly a cause as well, you’re fucking dumb if you think it explains the whole thing. You tell yourself this because it makes you feel manly and superior. You really just come across insecure as a result.

And think about who exactly is on programs like SNAP. 90% of them are dependents, the disabled, and the elderly. For many of those disabled people, it is IMPOSSIBLE for them to have jobs. If you’re able bodied and you got SNAP, you would realize very quickly that the benefits by themselves would only be a small fraction of the cost to actually not be homeless. Most wannabe moochers couldn’t exist even if they wanted to. The government benefits are simply peanuts.
