Okay, let's get real here for a moment, shall we.

IM2's complaint is that we don't emphasize his historical grievances enough in talking about the breadth of American History.

Um. Okay. Maybe he has a point, but the problem is prioritization, is it not?

When I was in the service, we were holding on to some Mauser Machine Guns that were being transferred to a military museum. They were captured during WWI from the Germans. So just for grins, I thought I would quiz our soldiers as they came past my arms vault if they knew when World War I happened.

Not a one of them got it right.

Now, you can't complain that we aren't teaching about the Tulsa massacre (which was undeniably bad) when we don't even do a very good job teaching about a major event like WWI.

My HS History book covered WWII. but it made sure it dedicated a couple pages to Segregated Units, to Japanese internment, to women's rights during the war. Oh, yeah, and there was some stuff in there about the Battles and some guy named Hitler.
