This is what happens when you defund the police.

So why do they teach classes on self defense ?
Self defense is all about picking your moments.

You'd be better off studying how not to do the stupid things I see people doing every day. Walking around with their phones out oblivious to their surroundings. Going to a deserted ATM in the middle of the night.

You're better off developing a sense of situational awareness than learning some krav maga move that only ever works on TV.
In a better world, this wouldn't be necessary. In fact, 50 years ago you could pretty much leave the keys in your car and your house unlocked without worry.
What has changed?

Number ONE reason is Democrat policies that have destroyed the nuclear family and created a system of entitlement.

Great, today you need to become a proficient martial artist, tomorrow you'll need to always carry a gun just to survive....
except democrats will make you an outlaw for the audacity of defending your life against thugs.
Biden and dems PROMISE gun confiscation as Beto O'Rourke becomes his Confiscation Czar

How about we.......stop rewarding criminals? How about we stop making prisons so comfortable?
How about we stop treating victims like they are the criminal?
How about we make the punishment so scary, thugs will actually think twice rather than laugh as they do now?

Your whole remedy is to force innocent people to make all the effort....and criminals a free pass. Seriously?

Nice
That's not true. 50 years ago, I was a 12-year-old boy in Los Angeles. You locked your car, you locked your door. People got mugged on the streets. Banks and liquor stores were robbed at gun point. Nothing has changed all that much.

I don't believe in giving criminals a free pass. But, unless you're Batman and wearing ballistic armor from head to toe, you don't go wrestling with an armed robber. You stay calm, get an accurate description (which almost no one does), you report the theft as soon as you can so police can patrol the area to find them.

Unless you KNOW you have the upper hand, let the police take care of it. I guarantee there is nothing in your wallet that is worth your life.
I never lock my doors up on the lake. There are safe places to live to this very day. In Columbus how ever every thing is locked up tight. I leave several thousand dollars worth of poles and fishing equipment on my boat every night. It is always there in the morning. Every one knows every one at my camp ground and we are all armed no need for locks. Realy a lovely place to live. Wish i never had to go home. The camp ground is always awesome, not so much in the big city.

A glass is always simultaneously half full and half empty.

Most people go long with nothing really bad happening to them in their lives. For others, life is a left-over shite sandwich without pickles.

Heaven and Hell are really just different perspectives on the same real estate.

And apparently, you feel it is all "contained". it's as bad as it can get you say?
Wrong....it's still paradise relative to what it can and probably will become. It's up to you to pretend and ignore what's happening.

People in Brazil and Venezuela also felt that way a long time ago. Transformation changed all that.

To be fair, big city police departments have always told people not to challenge a robber. It's a good way to get yourself seriously injured or worse.

Let them have the $34 in your wallet and you can keep your life.
Or more accurately, yesterday they only wanted $34.00. And because that was so easy, today they want ALL your money.
And because that was so easy, today they want your car. And because that was so easy......

Yeah, crime pays with that attitude.
As long as the System keeps favoring the safety and well being of the criminal it will get worse.
They always get caught. They're idiots. Do you really want to get shot by an idiot?
I have a better idea. Don't live where the idiots are. When city leaders are telling residents get used to being victims, it's time to move.
Crime happens everywhere.
crime does not just "HAPPEN" criminals do it.
I have lived in NYC in many different places. In some places I could walk thru the streets and not hear a single gunshot. ----the occasional street crime CAME from elsewhere. In some places-----murder by gunshot was a weekly event. Right now-----street crime has become a BLM associated event
I know how crime happens lady and my understanding comes from a better and more complete place than yours does. BLM has nothing to do with the street crimes but you racists want to make it that way. You don't do that for these white supremacist groups when some white dude writes a racist manifesto and commits a mass shooting. And again, the evidence points to white supremacists for most of the violence.
who is "LADY"?----well---were it me (rosie) ---I know lots about street criminals-----in fact street criminals
from one of the very significant neighborhoods of BLM filth were often in my confidential care as were their bullet in the head victims. I know the neighborhood well-------I walked its length each morning and evening for several years-------what was NOT there were "whites" and "cops" What was there was the frequent sound of bullets (preceding the arrival of the bullet in the head victims) and also the arrival of cuffed young males who talked enough for me to get a grasp on their mindsets. There were so few whites there that one very stormy nite I got disoriented but was rescued by a very large concerned man who said to me "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE"---he escorted me to the subway station

btw IM-2----from WHERE does your "understanding" about how "crime happens" come? Also--I have never encountered anyone who trivialized mass shooting done by white supremacists. ----they MAKE NEWS. Most of the black on black murders in places I have lived and worked-----do not make even the local papers. I did ask a cop once in a RIOT area near which I lived-----why are the cops reporting "no problems lately"------because I lived there I knew what was going on. He told me ----we say that to keep things quiet----if outside people hear about a disturbance ---THEY COME. I asked ---how do you get news reporters to cooperate?----he said something like its a matter of mutual cooperation regarding information. If you get your information from AL SHARPTON propaganda----you will never know----or is your source farakharah?

5,502 civilians killed by police since 2015.

1,017 police have died since 2015.

279 police have died by gunfire since 2015.

For every police officer shot and killed, 20 civilians have been.

In 2019 police killed 1004 civilians. That's 13 fewer than the total number of police who have died from all causes, including heart attacks, 9-11 related illnesses and COVID19 IN THE PAST 5 YEARS..
LOL comparing criminals killed while preforming criminal acts is ridiculous on its face. Moron.

--I never came across an actual REAL CASE OF POLICE ABUSE
I'll bet the medical board has never come come across an actual case of medical malpractice, either.
It is far easier to deal with a real brain stroke or myocardial infarction than a cuffed person on the way to jail
There's murder-for-hire and a corrupt coroner or medical examiner complicit in the cover-up for those difficult cases of the hard-to-kill defendant.
wrong again the medical board comes across actual cases of medical malpractice LEFT AND RIGHT----and either lifts medical licenses or ----demands large fines PLUS years of suspended license

How about the police just stop killing people? Every year they kill 10 times the number of cops who die by gunshot. That's not including the beatings and intimidation. That's why people are talking about defunding them. Every time the public starts trying to hold cops accountable they go into these tantrums by refusing to do their jobs until we give in and let them have free reign to kill or beat up people whenever they want.
That's the truth about what cops do, but in that sort of environment of wanton and rampant police beatings and killings, the talk of "defunding the police" is actually a covert plan on the part of City Hall to make local police departments more self-supporting, somewhat like the USPS, but in the case of the cops, they would support themselves on the spoils of search warrants and civil asset forfeitures, as well as the traffic fines and vehicle impoundments and auctions on which small-town police departments have long been supporting themselves without a sufficient bona fide tax district to finance such a large, well-staffed metropolitan police department and criminal justice system in every small town and village.
there is no problem of police brutality or police killings
explained here:

America is perfectly plump and ripe for this Bolshevik Revolution to succeed.
They have planned meticulously and destroyed any and all opposition.

The perfect storm.

Khalif Browder. WRONGFULLY arrested and held in Riker’s island for a stolen book bag. Had him 3 years wit no conviction(2 in solitary confinement) he couldn’t afford bail n refused to plead guilty. After finally getting out, later took his own life due to PTSD of his time served
