No doubt racism is a problem in some police forces. Still, I fail to see how this would have ended differently if the homeless guy was white....well, except that his mommy wouldn't have gotten $150K. Sad.

The deeper issue here, IMHO, is a severe lack of mental healthcare and chronic homelessness...which is often tied to mental health issues.
