Doesn't really matter to Gaetz. Resigning 2 days before report release, cuts chances of official release, especially with Johnson's help. If report breaks, and he doesn't get confirmed, he was re-elected and will be back next term, and I am sure Trump supporting members of the house will accept him.

If he does get Attorney General, I guess we can look for a steep drop in prosecutions on human trafficking, and maybe a national drop in age of consent, probably to 16, just to avoid future problems of this type for him.

The infection has made the innocent guilty along with the guilty. A malaise is growing in our nation as TV and social media has become a seduction with many having gratitude in seeing others fail. There's SO much more than just the allegations that people here have been talking about. I just started looking into it all, but already I'm amazed that he is even up for AG, he has some very serious skeletons in his closet, that go far beyond the ones we've been hearing about.

I was going to get into specifics earlier, but I decided to wait until I look into it more and gather info. But for now I have to say my initial gut feeling was right, and it appears to be even worse than I thought. And on top of that he only worked as a lawyer for I think 2 years. But a lot of people have been saying that the whole thing was just a way for him to get out of an ethics investigation. And there's more to say about that too, because really there is so much corruption in government that I have very little faith that truth would prevail even if there was an investigation.

They're all corrupt, and government "investigations" are NOT a true determination of someone's guilt or innocence. I've seen more than enough government "investigations" that were a farce and did not get to the actual truth or hold politicians accountable. Why, because there are almost no clean hands. Often, implicating one person will expose others as well, on both sides.

I'm kind of surprised how so many here actually still trust the government.

I don't trust the current government at all in any way. But I have sufficient common sense to know that if the corrupt BIden DOJ couldn't come up with anything credible to charge Gaetz, the odds are excellent that he is innocent. If they had ANYTHING to use, they would have used it to take him out in a heartbeat.

And that is why I say it is sinful behavior, mean spiritedness, and just plain wrong to accuse the man for no other reason than the left WANTS him to be guilty or at least seen as guilty.

The Republican House Judiciary committee did the investigation, not Democrats. From what I understand, Federal DOJ decided there was not evidence for Federal charges. Then the House took it up on ethics grounds.

What is it, you do not trust about the Republicans that ran that committee, interviewed the witnesses and wrote the report, and why would you blame Democrats for the Republican House investigation. If it was an ethic violation in the eyes of the Republican Senate, for the young 32-year-old Representative to be fking 17-year-old high school students in his own state. I have not heard the girl's parents minded. Florida is an interesting state.

It may be true, he has never run an organization of 115,000 employees or even one with a hundred employees, and certainly not one with a budget of $37.7 Million Dollars. True, it is difficult to find, he actually practiced law, but he was only suspended from practicing once, and that was for being delinquent, but he is eligible to practice if he ever chooses to. His investigation management experience is nil. On the other hand, he is the best President-Elect Trump could come up with, whether Elon approves or not.

If Biden's corrupt and militarized DOJ couldn't come up with a case against Gaeta, it is quite reasonable to believe there is no case against Gaeta. And it tried.

They didn't pursue the charges in the end. Yes, that is correct. The DOJ investigation was initiated by Bill Barr, during the Trump administration NOT the Biden administration for partisan reasons as you so easily claim, and continued in to the Biden admin, and it was the Biden admin DOJ, under Garland rule, who chose not to charge him....

They never announced he was cleared of charges, they simply did not bring charges and announced it, ( because she was close to 18 by the time he brought her on the trip out of state and prosecutors felt there was a chance of jury nullification happening being so close to her being of age)

And the Republican House Committee brought on a probe in to Gaetz under Trump admin, then paused it while Doj was investigating, then the republican house ethics committee reopened it after the DOJ ended their investigation....

He's not qualified to be AG, regardless of his sexcapades with young women, and drugs, and Rock and roll.

He has no experience in life or career, other than being a congress critter....this is the biggest, most important admin job in the nation
