Obviously, if the report disputed what has been reported and cleared him of ethic charges, not only would nobody mind the release of the report, but would be insisting on it. But, no. I agree with you on that. However, as someone who used to have a website exposing corruption in government (it was about the Clintons, and it was many years ago) when I hear certain things that are disturbing but my gut is telling me there is something to it....I feel compelled to dig deeper and get to the actual truth. To me the only thing that matters is the truth.

While I absolutely agree with what you said about bearing false witness or convicting someone before we know they are guilty, I don't think there is anything wrong with investigating and looking into the evidence, and trying to get to the truth. In fact, Ephesians 5:11-14 says "do not take part in works of darkness, but expose it." So there's nothing wrong with wanting to dig deeper and get to the bottom of things.

Yes, REAL allegations do warrant looking into. But if a corrupt and malicious DOJ like Biden's didn't find anything to charge Matt Gaetz with, and that investigation was done, I'm pretty sure it's a safe bet that he is not guilty of the terrible things meanspirited people are accusing him now. He has not been charged. Certainly he has not been tried and convicted. Only accused.

For sure I won't judge a man based on rumor, political propaganda, innuendo, gossip. Few Republican these days are able to speak out about anything that is problematic for the Democrats without somebody raising the specter of some kind of sexual misconduct. And they often manage to dig up some bimbo who will accuse their political opponent. It is as common as them accusing Republicans of being racist or misogynistic or white supremacist or whatever. In my opinion this is evil and should not be part of our political or social culture.

In truth there's a part of me that doesn't like Matt Gaetz--that has nothing to do with his personal life--but I respect President Trump's choice. If it works out great. If not, he will be replaced. None of us have the moral right to assume someone else is guilty of anything until there is verifiable evidence of that guilt.

Doesn't really matter to Gaetz. Resigning 2 days before report release, cuts chances of official release, especially with Johnson's help. If report breaks, and he doesn't get confirmed, he was re-elected and will be back next term, and I am sure Trump supporting members of the house will accept him.

If he does get Attorney General, I guess we can look for a steep drop in prosecutions on human trafficking, and maybe a national drop in age of consent, probably to 16, just to avoid future problems of this type for him.

There's SO much more than just the allegations that people here have been talking about. I just started looking into it all, but already I'm amazed that he is even up for AG, he has some very serious skeletons in his closet, that go far beyond the ones we've been hearing about.

I was going to get into specifics earlier, but I decided to wait until I look into it more and gather info. But for now I have to say my initial gut feeling was right, and it appears to be even worse than I thought. And on top of that he only worked as a lawyer for I think 2 years. But a lot of people have been saying that the whole thing was just a way for him to get out of an ethics investigation. And there's more to say about that too, because really there is so much corruption in government that I have very little faith that truth would prevail even if there was an investigation.
