Actually, IMO, you do live on but, not as a corporal body. You represent all the folks who went before you at a basic cellular level. If you have children, your genetic code will pass to them as well. Your memory will live more in some than others. We are all part of a greater whole but, cannot understand until we shed all ego which seems almost impossible. Another thought: Live in the present, the past cannot be changed and the future is as yet unknown. Learn to stop thinking about your thoughts and just observe and be here, now. Presumptive negativity is difficult to keep on par with the positive because it has more emotional power.

IMO, Satan wants souls to live forever, so he can have them in Hell forever. Maybe convincing non-believers that they don't live on causes them to lose their souls to him. :eek:

Every person has a soul which is connected to his/her brain during the person's life. That soul is eternal.

PS. Sadly, I did not study Medicine like many of my ancestors did. This is one of many reasons I can consider my years wasted.

Many refer to this 'soul' as a 'spirit' as well.
 
Many great Rabbis were also experts in Medicine. During Middle Ages, most chief Rabbis were also Doctors of Medicine.

Actually, the two professions were separated during the time of Ambroise Pare, in the 16th Century, when barbers were increasingly forbidden to perform surgical procedures.

The two professions were officially separated in England in 1740 by edict of King George II, thirty-six years before the founding of The United States.
