THERE IS NO DOWNSIDE TO LIVING YOUR LIFE AS A son OF GOD.

Downside? lol Let me tell you why I walked away from what you claim is a blessed life.

My first wife was a victim of horrific abuse as a child. Her mind blocked it until she was in her 30s. Like many survivors of traumatic events, her mind recovered those memories slowly, as she could handle them. The worst memories were the last to come back.

One of her worst (that she told me about) was being raped and sodomized against a stone wall in her basement. She remembers the way the stones felt against her body and the details of how they looked. That stone wall fell when she was 4 or 5 years old, and was replaced by a smooth concrete block wall.

What struck me most was when she talked about hiding in the barn in the dead of winter praying to God to hide her from her abuser. She prayed as hard as she could to be rescued. She was not. She was raped and beaten until she was 16 years old.

Now I know some of you will use the old "God works in mysterious ways" or some shit. But the fact that He allowed this precious child to go thru such torment, chose to ignore her prayers, and allowed such torture to continue tells me he either doesn't exist, doesn't pay attention, or is a despicable being.

Now when I hear people talk about God curing some old lady of cancer or see athletes give God credit for their touchdowns, I think about that innocent child hiding in a freezing barn and having her prayers go unanswered.

So you go right ahead and think of yourself as blessed. I will not bow to any creature who could allow such torture. I cannot conceive of any benevolent being who would. As I said, he either doesn't exist, doesn't pay attention, or is a sadist. I'll let you pick which one.

YES!!!! fIRST THINGS FIRST! We must first become a believer in GOD before we get into trouble and expect him to help us. Don't wait untill you are in big trouble before you call on God for help. Believe in God,accept Jesus as your lord and savior, then you as a son of God talk(pray) to God the Father!

pray for yourself you insensitive ******* asshole. he was talking about a 5 or 6 year old.

I'm sorry about what your wife endured. No one should have to endure it.

The problem is the problem with evil. Every one has done wrong so where should God start punishing people? If God has to start with the abuser then he has to finish with everyone who has inherited sin and that means punishing a lot of sinful people. If you want God to get rid of all the evil then God has to get rid of you and me.

I take it you don't know God either, yet you want to try to blame God for the evil man's sin brings to all creation. God gave man a perfect world, man chose to reject God and live in sin then "TYPICAL" man wants to try to blame God for the results of man's sin. DREAM ON!!!

Yes, and anyone with eyes that see and ears that hear knows that GISM has his reward already.

YES!!! I believe in God and I have accepted Jesus as my lord and savior and I live in the blessing and protection of God my father.=====
Praise the Lord, my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
2
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
3
who forgives all your sins
and heals all your diseases,
4
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
5
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagleÂ’s.
6
The Lord works righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
7
He made known his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel:
8
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.

But why was jesus wearing a diaper on the cross? He have the runs?

THINK! The cost of being a mocker and scoffer is eternal hell!!! BEST YOU COUNT THE COST!!

Just answer the question: why was Jesus wearing a diaper on the cross?

After being nearly beaten to death, in all probability, He was hung on the cross naked, as was the Roman custom, to enhance shame.
The "diaper" you refer to is an artist's rendition to mitigate shame.

Hob, is there the same visceral condemnation in your "everlasting" as we see demonstrated here?

Hangover, the verse you quoted has nothing to do with being a child of God, which come in two varieties, sons and daughters.
It addresses those whose only attraction to Christ was to recreate supernatural events. They used His name in order to be magicians. That was the extent of their relationship with the Lord. That was the relationship the Lord pointed out specifically.

Winter, that is a heart wrenching example of what Satan is capable of. For a time, this is Satan's domain. It is why bad things happen. He is the destroyer, not God. Your wife is one of many who have suffered at Satan's delight.
But the time is coming when Christ will rid the earth of suffering and will replace the pain your wife carries with pure joy. His day is coming and so is your wife's. The Lord will see to it justice is served on her behalf. And for the sake of the children blown to bits in airplanes that bombs bring down, and for the child that was shoved into the church that was set on fire, and burned to death. For the child poisoned to death in a concentration camp. For the child whose head is cut off for the beliefs of it's parents. For the children whose necks we slit at birth, because of hair color.

How much must the Almighty God of all creation loves his creation=man for Him to be willing to pay mankind's sin debt by hanging naked on a Roman cross. THEN EVIL little man WANTS TO MOCK AND SCOFF,yes hell is too good for some!!!and you???

Ok, so he was actually naked. So, did he have a big shlong? Was he circumsized?

You know, for the God of free will and mercy, God places a lot of random, unnecessary restrictions on believers.
No downside? What about freedom?

What restrictions are those? What is it you think I, as a believer, am restricted from doing?

Depends. Are you Jewish or Christian, because you're probably one of them. I'll just go with Christian then.
Ever read Leviticus, or the rest of the Torah? A lot of restrictions there. And Jesus said that he didn't come to do away with those teachings, so if you actually follow all of Jesus said, you should go slaughter a fattened calf at the alter of the Lord every time you sin and spread its intestines and spill its blood in a certain manner. Not one for Leviticus? Jesus says calling your brother a fool will get you thrown into Hell. God knows I'm going to Hell then.

Do you understand the difference between Jew and Gentile? What is the Gentile fascination with JEWISH LAWS? They applied to 1 specific small group of people, ONLY.

Those Jews in the desert asked for laws to be judged by, for them and their descendants. Period.
It was a death sentence to them, an asking for condemnation and judgment, and required Christ's fulfilling of them, so the Jews could be spared from certain death. A lot like you asking to go to hell for calling someone a fool, instead of thanking God, for Christ's removal of that death sentence from your account. Your sin of calling someone a fool was dealt with by Christ on the cross. He paid for your mouth so you wouldn't have to. It is a gift from Jesus Christ. You can certainly go to hell for it if you want, simply ignore the gift and demand to be judged according to the laws of the Jews. :cuckoo:

From the beginning, Adam to Moses and (from the cross till Christ's return) there are no laws used for condemning human beings. Us doing evil was blamed, rightly so, on Satan!! GOD DOES NOT BLAME SATAN'S ACTIONS ON US. He places the blame right where it belongs, and is merciful unto us.

Romans 5:13
To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged against anyone's account where there is no law.

Is is present tense. It applies to you, now. Why on God's green earth would you want to put yourself under ancient Hebrew LAW???

A small group of people, filled with self righteousness asked God to give them a set of rules and were confident they could keep the rules. They were wrong. They failed miserably. So, Christ fulfilled the Law FOR THEM. He broke 0 laws in their place.

Those rules have nothing to do with the non-Jew. Not the 10 we cling to or the 600 others we choose to overlook.

He fulfilled the Law for the Jews and removed sin from all humans. Instead of resurrecting and remaining, He left temporarily, to give Gentiles a 2,000 year era to accept Him as our Savior and Redeemer. We have reached the end of that age. He will be returning to the Jews soon to set up His Kingdom there. As their Messiah. We will benefit from it as well.

Instead of spreading entrails on the ground, accept what Christ has done for you and live for Him. HE is your gift. It is how you don't go to hell for your actions. :eusa_angel:

you seem to misunderstand the thread.....you weren't asked to offer yourself as proof there is a downside to being an idiot

Metaphor and allegory. Why I quit worrying and learned to hate religion.

forget about "religion"!!! The big question is= Do you know God? Have you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior and become a son of God with eternal life?

I thought the christian doctrine was the Jesus was the son of God. But you say we can all become sons of God by accepting Jesus as our saviour.

I suggest that we are already sons of God and what we do or think makes no difference.
Occultism teaches that no one is lost or wasted, and all experience leads us to ultimate enlightenment.

Which is what differentiates Christianity from the occult. Followers of Satan are the sons and daughters of Satan, and will spend eternity with Him, so some will indeed be lost. Those who follow Christ will spend eternity with Him, and His Father as God's children.

YES!!! Jesus is the only SON of God but we believers become adopted sons when we believe and accept Jesus as our lord and savior!

Downside? lol Let me tell you why I walked away from what you claim is a blessed life.

Hi WB......why would her abuse be a downside of believing in God?......being angry because God didn't rip the heart out of someone who was an abuser is one thing, but saying the abuse happened BECAUSE of a belief in God is certainly another......

PMP! How are you, my friend?

I walked away, in part, because I cannot believe in a benevolent God who ignores the prayers of a small child begging not to be abused. I didn't say he should rip the heart out of anyone. But surely an all-powerful, omnipotent being could help a 5 year old hide or do something to make her abuser stop. Supposedly he can cure cancer & homosexuality, and can give people the ability to score touchdowns.

There are a lot of people who won't submit to God's will but God uses these consequences so that we ask for God and consequences are the only thing that can make us feel the need for God to bring us back to Him.

God gave man free will on earth. Taking it away would mean that you and other people wouldn't have a learning experience and would always question God in heaven (if you make it) why you can't have your ways. I always asked my parents why I couldn't have a motorcycle and they said it wasn't as good as a bumper and last month I was hit from behind by a drunk driver and her airbags went off and her bumper fell off. Suppose I didn't have the learning experience? What would happen to me now? The person who hit my car was arrested on the spot but my boss saw the pictures and said that the driver could have killed me. If I was on a motorcycle, I would be in the hospital or dead.

In heaven, I will not want to leave my first estate like the angels (Jude 3) because I won't want to come back here because being out of the will of God is what you have down here; it isn't always fun.

In the end, it won't matter what I think or what you think. There will be heaven and there will be hell. It is admirable that God gave us a way to ask for heaven.
