I'm not sure which war you're referring but EVERYTHING that has happened subsequently has been about retribution - not defense, not justice, not making things safer. Just retribution.

I'm referring to the war caused by the atrocities committed October 7. The actions of the Israeli government are to remove the threat of anything like that happening again. Specifically, dismantle the Hamas government, destroy military infrastructure, and provide some measure of control over future smuggling of weapons into Gaza.
