I see now why liberals beleive in a regulated life, individual liberty sacraficed for what the government determins is best for the collective, and the guarentee of happiness. I guess your a long way from life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness huh? I suppose we should open the federal department of happy? We'll call it the FDH administration. We'll even post a constitutional amendment that states that the government can do whatever it it deems necessary to make people happy. No longer should individual liberty be the standard of freedom. We'll just go around and ask peoplefrom different nations with different circumstances and different ways of living if there happy. And if they say no we give them what thety want. Yes, emotion is now the standard of prosperity. Not how free you are.

And we have a record of sacrificing property too, to the collective as you say. It's nothing new. We have been using socialist policies for a long while now......The draft, Consumer protections, Child labor laws, labor laws, all because we are a socialist nation.

The Glass steagal bill kept us from a constant boom bust cycle and every sane person who respects the REAL history of this country knows it

Yes the Glass Stegal Act prevented people from borrowing money for the express purpose of playing the market. But what does that have to do with the fact that most if not all booms are artificially proped up by the government until they bust? Then of course they blame wallstreet but make no arrests because no laws were violated. Why? Because the bust was incentivised and subsidised by the federal government. The housing boom and bust is a prime example.

The Constitution, as Obama once lamented and greived, is a charter of negative liberties. But you dont know what that means do you?

It's a lawyer term. It basically refers to the "negative" liberties of government over it's citizens (or more broadly..freedom from the interference of other people). A concept conservatives are working tirelessly to reverse.

First Republicans gained a historic amount of seats in the U.S house of represenatives and the future is looking bleak for liberals. Then the UK rejected the labor party in favor of Cameron's Conservative Party. In Canada, Conservatives cleaned house and in Spain the socialist party has been slaughtered. Socialism is is being rejected around the globe. Woo hoo.

I think between his family, his associations, his appointments, his politics, and his religious choices, we can certainly confirm that this guy is a socialist.

The housing boom and bust took place after the removal of glass steagal.


The role the government plays is to try and round teh edges of a boom and bust.

It shallows the trough.

Yea Western Europe is now quickly running away from Socialism. Look at what the Socialists did to so many Economies in Western Europe. It's a real mess over there. That's why it's so sad and odd seeing Socialism on the rise here in the U.S. $14.5 Trillion in Debt yet some Americans still believe a Nanny State is the answer. That's just so perplexing. Oh I don't think you understand, I beleive both American parties are socialist by their very nature. There is very little difference between a tax and spend Democrats and a tax and spend Republicans. They are both liberal spendthrifts who will liberally spend the lives of your children in foriegn wars to control the most vital natural resource of the world.

Some things are better for the sociality when done collectively. Water supply, sanitation, policing, firefighting, road construction and maintenance....ect. Most of these thing do not encroach on individual liberty, however the over-reach of the nanny state into our personal lives cannot be denied. Examples of the over-reach: The drug war, the war against gay equal rights.
