When you look close the FBI doesn't exactly have a sterling reputation outside of Hollywood fiction that passes for history in the minds of today's pop culture educated generation.The G-Men got pretty good publicity back in the 30's chasing colorful gangsters but they also were pretty much the private intelligence network for Hoover's blackmail and political extortion ring for decades. The FBI's crime lab scandal should have been cause to re-examine the operation but even the high profile arrest of FBI traitor Robert Hanssen wasn't cause for alarm . FBI agents led the (illegal) assault on Ruby Ridge and then they went on to bigger things by driving military tanks in an assault on a quirky religious cult in Waco Texas. No big deal when 80 men women and children are killed by poison gas and tanks during a democrat administration. What do you do when the FBI leadership breaks the law and violates the Constitution like a freaking 3rd world gestapo agency? Mostly you rely on the media to uncover the illegal activity in the federal government and demand justice but what happens when the media is part of the conspiracy? In that case you can pretty much kiss the Constitution goodbye.

Actually they're good at financial crimes and breaking the mob. As you say, not so good at civil rights.

But we may be encouraged by a line from The Godfather’s Don Corleone: “Never hate your enemies. It affects your judgment.” Trump still seems to be having fun, while his adversaries are becoming increasingly unhinged as their grip on power becomes more desperate. This is dangerous, in the same way that trapped yet vicious animal is a danger; and yet it’s also encouraging. The side that keeps its humor will most likely keep its wits.

Every little bit matters, because . . . it’s gonna be close.

The country made it through eight years of assaults on the Constitution by Barry and his gang of progressives...funny how you never saw that as a problem, Lakhota!

Could you provide a couple examples of "Barry's" assaults on the Constitution?

Let's start with the Chrysler bailout. The Obama Administration reordered how creditors should be paid...basically rewriting our rule of law without going through Congress to do so.

Then there was ObamaCare. The Obama Administration continually changed what was in the ACA without going through Congress to do so in an attempt to make it "legal" in the eyes of the Supreme Court!

Then there was the targeting of political opponents with the IRS.

There is the appointment of 3 members to the Labor Relations Board during what the President claimed was a Congressional recess but in fact Congress was still meeting in "pro forma" session. Those appointments were later deemed illegal by unanimous Supreme Court vote!

Or there was his use of the EPA to regulate pollution setting mandatory levels something the Supreme Court once again over turned.

Oh and let's not forget his targeting of Reporters for wiretaps to ferret out leaks in his Administration!

The Obama Justice Department holds the rather dubious record of having over 50 unanimous decisions by the Supreme Court go against them...half again as much as the next closest administration!

Old Style, I asked and you answered. Thank you. Sorry I wasn't aware of the Chrysler rewrite so I have no idea if it was a good or bad idea. I favored the act you call Obamacare, even though I was not a participant, and always knew tweaks would be necessary. Making it legal in the eyes of SCOTUS is not a bad thing. And lets not forget that Republicans actually contributed some 65 amendments before doing an 'about face' to keep within the McConnell Mission Statement issued on Day One to not allow any legislation that could possibly maybe sorta favor Obama, even if it did help out under-insured Americans. Targeting political opponents is an iffy partisan accusation. It seems to me that targeting political opponents who are scamming on their obligations as citizens is also not a bad thing. What was the result of that issue? And Targets ALWAYS claim victimhood that 'they was framed' just like the old Capone news item cites, and try to divert. EPA? Don Blankenship gave EPA the finger for years, and owned judges so it is said, and 29 men died. When was it that a slag heap slid into the Tennessee River and polluted streams and creeks for miles, killing crops and farm animals that depended on them? During Bush I think. Of course, there is no data on how many lives, young and old, have been shortened by dumping chemicals into the air. Targeting reporters is a new one for me. Again, thank you for a discussion of views rather than the spit-speckled foam-flecked inane rant of those who cannot pinpoint the source of their angst so they just toss out bumper sticker epithets. It isn't whether or not the Chrysler rewrite was a good or bad idea...it's that the Executive Branch doesn't have the power granted to it to change our laws. That's the job of Congress! When the Obama Administration simply ignored that...it's an attack on the Constitution.

It's the same thing with the ACA. That was something passed into law by Congress. If you want to "tweak" it so that it will pass muster as constitutional by the Supreme Court...then you have to do so in Congress! Once again...the Executive Branch isn't given the power to change law that's been enacted by Congress. It doesn't matter if the make up of Congress changed and the votes were no longer there to pass redoes of the ACA...Barack Obama doesn't have the authority to simply change laws.

Using the IRS against your political enemies isn't "iffy". It either happened or it didn't. Richard Nixon was forced to step down from office in part because he TRIED to get the IRS to target his enemies. It never happened but just the attempt was the final straw and led to Nixon's ouster. Barack Obama was actually able to use the IRS to target conservative groups and hamstring their work against him. That's not a small thing. That's a huge thing. When the party in power starts using Federal agencies against it's political enemies then we're teetering towards an Imperial Presidency that the Founding Fathers would have been horrified by!

Do you really not know about Obama Administration accusing James Rosen of criminal conduct to a FISA court so they could get wire taps on his phone in an attempt to find out who was leaking information from within their own White House? In a move that's strikingly similar to what they did with the FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign...they lied to FISA court judges to obtain those warrants! That goes Tricky Dick one better than the Nixon White House's attempt to bug Democratic Party headquarters at the Watergate complex.
