That witness statement is exactly how I saw it. Trying to help the woman up and then he gets attacked from behind. There is no gun out or anything like that.

We have to rate the truth of various parties. We apparently had at least several shooters. We could not understand if they talked and reported guns on the victim killed. Apparently Pretti had already had a run in with ICE officers the week earlier resulting in a cracked or broken rib! That is all on Pretti, not ICE, who are trying to arrest illegal criminal aliens and are not there to pick fights with ER nurses.

A pattern develops, then the guy shows up here with a gun.

A caught PBS lying again: in their news, they stressed that Pretti had a CCW and was licensed to carry in that state! Can you imagine if J6ers had been carrying guns (not one of them was) and the Left argued in their defense they had every right to carry weapons to the J6 rally?

Simple fact is that license or not, you don't pick a fight with police armed. When a cop pulls you over, first thing they ask is whether you have a gun. You are supposed to turn it over to police until they are finished with you. Why? It only takes a split-second to pull a gun out from a holster and shoot a cop--- that is an unreasonable risk to the officer.

1. Pretti obstructed justice (broke the law) by interfering in a police operation.
2. Pretti broke the law when he failed to obey directions by the officers.
3. Pretti broke the law when he began struggling and fighting with the police.
4. Pretti greatly increased his chances of a bad ending by taking his gun with him into these situations.

Pretti was stupid, he gambled, he lost. Once officers realized he was violent, combative and armed, he became a deadly threat and a danger to police whose only first instinct is to react in self-defense. Does not matter what HE thought or intended, the man risked his life for some jackhole criminal alien from Ecuador.

I wonder if the family of the Ecuadoran will be sending the Pretti family any money or flowers for the funeral?

Here is how a smart protester would handle himself. He would first stand well off. If he wanted to be close to cops he tells them several things in rapid fashion. 1... he would say he is heavily armed 2. he would say he has legal permits. 3 he would show them his ID. And you're perfectly fine with her being shot dead with no weapons without knowing what her intent was. While perfectly willing to let ICE officers risk their lives to determine what some deranged lunatic with a gun's intent was.
