Why wouldn't you want America to control Venezuelan oil? It's the most eco-unfreindly oil being produced these days. It's heavy, high in sulfur content, and comes from an industry plagued by massive leaks, spills, and excessive methane flaring, making its extraction and processing environmentally damaging and contributing significantly to pollution and greenhouse gases. The crude itself is low quality, requiring extensive refining and producing harmful byproducts like petcoke when processed.
