There were restrictions and they were reasonable and popular with most Americans. Of course the GOP doesn't care about most Americans, only their base.

First of all, that is not how abortions are done, because that would cause the woman to die from uncontrolled bleeding.
Second is that abortions are limited to before 24 weeks, during which time it is less than 1 inch in size.
Third is that we have to stop the population from increasing, or else everyone dies.
The planet can't support indefinite population growth.
 
Women have the right to choose from numerous types of birth control. Their only excuse for abortion is ignorance.

First of all, most birth control simply induces an abortion right away.
Second is that ever using several types of birth control, some people have still gotten pregnant to term.

There are NO RIGHTS in the Constitution, but merely restrictions on government.
Rights are infinite, can not be listed, and had to exist before the Constitution, in order to be able to write the Constitution.
Everyone should automatically know that, because if a right can be granted, it can then also be rescinded arbitrarily, and that is impossible.
Privacy is second only to the right life.

Roe V Wade was not based on privacy, but the fact no politician has the right to practice medicine without a license.
Abortion is about 10 times safer than taking a pregnancy to term.
So obviously it is an individual right, based on the right to life.
