Most Latinos voted for Democrats in last week’s elections. But Republican support among Hispanic voters has grown by 10 points since 2018, continuing a dozen-year trend of America’s largest ethnic minority group drifting in a more politically conservative direction. Though this shift has engendered much Democratic finger-pointing about potentially off-putting messaging (e.g., promotion of the term “Latinx”) and lack of outreach, the primary cause may be much simpler: namely, the rapidly improving socio-economic position of Latinos in America.

I've been noting for years one big reason Hispanics have left the Democrats.

Obama Broke His Promise to Latinos

When Barack Obama and I last sat down in 2006, I refused to shake his hand. Today, I still won’t. His announcement last weekend that he would delay executive action on immigration is his fifth broken promise to Latinos on this all-important issue for our community. He has been blind to the pain of the 1,100 deportations our communities face every day and the anguish our families feel as they are swung back and forth as political pawns.

The question for us Latinos — especially the nearly 24 million of us eligible to vote — is, what to do about this? How can we ensure that the fastest-growing demographic in the country isn’t taken for granted by Democrats who purport to be our allies but often dash our hopes in the face of the least bit of political pressure?

Hispanics don’t want fascism and won’t be bought off my promises of free this or that.

They've stopped listening to the message that opposing unlimited immigration is anti-Hispanic racism.

The Democratic politicians who won re-election in Texas border states did so by openly opposing Biden's open border. They were not destroyed by the Soros Machine for speaking out because the Dems needed their seats to stay blue. No doubt, they will recieve a firm talking to now that elections are done.

The GOP's biggest mistake has been in not courting the vote of people of color. They stuck to the idea that people should be approached as Americans, not as a particular demographic. That idea is fine for business and education - essential in fact. But politics is all Affirmative Action of one kind or another.

I see three main reasons for the shift:

1. They don't want socialism. Many have been there, done that.

2. Most are Catholic and against abortion

3. Those damned illegals are taking their jobs and reducing their pay

This should be a no-brainer for repubs.
Most highspanics are devout Catholics vehemently opposed to abortion. Yet they vote for the party that endorses and even celebrates abortion.
Highspanics need to be reminded that a democrat vote means they are voting themselves into hell.
