Democracy exists in the US as far as we elect people to represent us. No one demeans this.
Some states allow a direct democracy for enacting certain issues but at the national level, this does not - indeed, can not - exist.

She wouldn't bite on Baier's fake numbers of immigrants he accused her and Biden of "releasing into the U.S.
Instead she redirected him to the real issue which is the bipartisan border Bill which Trump helped kill because he'd rather run on problems instead of fixing them.

And over and over she batted Baier's accusations aside and redirected him back to her own policy goals.
I especially liked the parts where Bret kept trying to talk over her, ramming the MAGAt talking points into the (so called) "questions" and she relentlessly kept backing him off and shutting him down making him "yes Mam" her and getting the last word in.
It was a masterful performance.
She judo-ed the f-ck out of poor Baier.
Also that was quite an interesting technique for interviewing Baier used of selecting video clips of statements made and then asking Harris to comment on the statements. I think it's a great technique to use on Trump to keep him from lying and trying to deny he's said what he has.
You will NEVER EVER see anyone from Fox News playing an actual clip of Trump saying exactly what he's trying to claim he never said though.
And then there was the part where Harris totally shattered Bret's credibility when he tried to use that video clip of Trump denying in an interview that he had ever said he'd use the U.S. military to persecute his political enemies.
Kamala BRILLIANTLY pointed out how dishonest it was to play the bogus denial rather than the actual statement she was referring to.
