The purpose of the Trust to to save historic buildings from being torn down and lost forever. THat is not happening at the White House.I prefer that a qualified body such as the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit created by Congress to help preserve historic buildings in the public interest, advise regarding the preservation of historic buildings in the public interest, but I also respect expertise in science, medicine, and academia over that of statist politicians who seek to dictate in their respective disciplines.
Those who seek to submit to authoritarianism differ, of course.

Where were your death thrawls when Obama spent 376 million in renovations? As usual, you have nothing.
Not a big fan of Trump putting a McD's in the ballroom.
Like I said, your Dear Leader is ******* up and the midterms are coming.
Just stand back, and stand by!
The qualified, designated body assessing the structure's historical significance and aesthetic considerations is entirely proper. As is the contextual impropriety of diminishing the White House with a proximate big room that is seldom used. The purpose of the Trust to to save historic buildings from being torn down and lost forever. Exempt Schmedly, post #446.The qualified, designated body assessing the structure's historical significance and aesthetic considerations is entirely proper. As is the contextual impropriety of diminishing the White House with a proximate big room that is seldom used.
Or if it's 1000 seats, cardiac event delivering.Going to put the door dash driver out of business.
Not their jobThe qualified, designated body assessing the structure's historical significance and aesthetic considerations is entirely proper. As is the contextual impropriety of diminishing the White House with a proximate big room that is seldom used.

The first to lie and promise the new construction wouldn't touch existing structure, and then tear down the entire side of the building?
Yeah, Trump gives a puny portion of his salary while his family is pocketing billions from his monetization of the presidency and Trump himself is on the verge of a 1/4 billion dollar payday curtesy of the US taxpayer.
Trump's cult are SOOOOOOOOOO..........gullible.
It is the people’s house.
The ludicrous notion that an authoritarian with no qualifications in historic preservation should dictate, with no input from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the nonprofit created by Congress to help preserve historic buildings in the public interest, is the dogma of a cult. Not their job
You just need something to whine aboutTo reiterate, it is not his WH to do with as he pleases. Garishly adorning the Oval with gold ornaments is one thing. Illegally tearing down part of the building is another.

If the East wing was being torn down and not rebuilt, you would have a point. Your harping about the Trust is nothing more than the whining of a TDS cultist. The ludicrous notion that an authoritarian with no qualifications in historic preservation should dictate, with no input from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the nonprofit created by Congress to help preserve historic buildings in the public interest, is the dogma of a cult.
