Systemic embarrassing wins, but wins for the good guy, no matter the case.Nothing wrong with the Death Penalty it's the fucking cases that come back 20-30 yrs later and the person is proven innocent, that is the problem.
It's not even a partisan thing or a national thing. It's people. All over the world.Got to admit, they don't set the bar at conservative self-discipline.
Its supposed to be a deterrent. It isn’t.
Gee, if only that were true. People sit on death row for decades.
Our legal protections are in place for a purpose.
Yet amazingly the State of Texas consistently leads the nation in executions by year.. If it were a deterent to murder, logic would dictate that folks in texas would stop killing people. But they don’t.It is a deterrent to those that truly do not want to be put to death, themselves. And, the guy that is put to death, is definitely deterred from committing the crime, again. 1/3 to 1/5 of people that simply go to prison, get out and comitt further crimes, sending them back to prison, for 3 hots and a cot, free food, TV and paid security. Not so, of those, whose repeated crimes, see them executed, ending their inhuman criminal activity, permanently.
Not really. Humans are really good at ignoring possible consequences for instant gratification.
Good idea, here is a better one:Its supposed to be a deterrent. It isn’t.
A death penalty that is never used isn't a deterrent.
Cut appeals down to 6 months and use it a few dozen times and see if crime rates drop.
Gee, if only that were true. People sit on death row for decades.
That increases the cost for sure.
375 inmtes on death row have been exonerated. While I'd prefer an amendment to ban the death penalty, that isn't likely to happen. Recognizing that, the death penalty should be swift, lethal, and a true deterrent. To that end...Mandate each state set up a court system to address only capital cases. No more decades on death row. Once a sentence is handed down, a 90 day clock starts. Set up an office in that court to be advocates for the people on death row to make sure we got the right man/woman. They essentially re-try the case. The court will subpoena everyone and anyone involved in the case from the standpoint of trying to find a reason to not put the guy to death. Basically a red team. If the State refuses to hand over evidence, testify in front of the court, etc... the sentence is commuted to life in prison; no parole.
375 over what period out of how many?Good idea, here is a better one:

The death penalty is awesome when we don’t like the profession of the victim.
Holy stretch of the imagination batman!
I (and most on the left) oppose the death penalty because it doesn’t work and is misapplied. How many murderous cops have been executed? Pretty much zero.
As for the guy who killed the CEO...a fragment of the left stupidly embraces this murderer.
The death penalty is barbaric. It's cheaper to lock them up for the rest of their life than it is to execute them.
Only because of the lengthy appeals process.
A bullet in the head by firing squad is pretty damn cheap.
Most states have abandoned the death penalty
Only the Bible Belt uses it to honor Jesus
Most of the civilized world does not use it
375 people who we were “sure” they committed the crime.375 over what period out of how many?
SO WELL PUT!When it comes to Trump or a CEO of a health care insurance company or the innocent unborn, the Left loves the death penalty
They just have a problem putting to death hardened murderers that will continue to kill.
As is trans surgeryIt's too permanent for any margin of error.
375 people who we were “sure” they committed the crime.
And how is crime in the "civilized" world these days compared to places like China, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, that harshly punish criminals?
ummm hummm...
