The Left - “The death penalty is wrong”

The death penalty is awesome when we don’t like the profession of the victim.

In the case of Luigi Mangione murdering Brian Thompson, Thompson's Insurance company rigged their computers to render many covered, legitimate claims to deny coverage. His company's claim denial rate was at 32%. That's high by Insurance company standards. Because of his company's practices, the feds were the process of conducting an investigation into his company and would most likely have charged and prosecuted him. As to Luigi Mangione's actions, they were definitely NOT justified. The government would have eventually sent him to prison and that would have been that.
As to the general policy of the government having the death penalty, in certain cases I not only believe that such a penalty is acceptable, if the murder(s) were particularly grisly and also committed on the most frail of our society, then such penalty should fit the crime. The evidence in death penalty cases should only be handed down when the evidence is so overwhelming that it couldn't have been anyone else that committed the crime. A 100% certainty situation (video coupled with DNA and other corroborating evidence).
A recent crime where a subway rider doused an accelerant on a sleeping woman who burned to death, should merit a similar death penalty. Just tie him to a stake and burn him alive.
The death penalty should only be given to those that actually commit murder. If no one was murdered, there should be no death penalty. Period.

I have mixed feelings about the death penalty, but I mostly oppose it because the govt sentences this and carries it out.

The govt should not be given such weighty powers. Not to be trusted

Over 40,000 people are killed each year in car accidents.
Why haven't we outlawed cars yet?
One death is too many.
Such an absurd comparison. Worthy of a small child or a stupid MAGA cult member. I'm sure it sounded reasonable at your most recent tinfoil hat convention.

Sure. I don't mind letting the prisoners take that risk instead of the general public. I think you've been watching too many Breaking Bad reruns.
How many of those prisoners that were killed were actually “innocent” of the crimes they were sentenced for?

LOL yea right. If the left could had done it, they would had.

They did force people to take the experimental vaccine or they would lose their jobs, not be allowed to enroll in school, or had to drop out of school. I know people who were forced to take it against their will or they had lost their jobs. Several of them had terrible adverse reactions. But the Big Pharma companies are immune from any liability.
Nuremberg 2.0 can’t come fast enough.

Sure they do.

But the justice system is about making a deterrent, rather than giving victims' families what they want.
OK, and death penalty is a deterrent. Some might consider life in prison not a bad deal. At least they get to see their family and live their life, even if it is behind walls.

If you remove the death penalty, you remove a solution for some very bad people.

So, you are using a convicted prisoners ethics as a benchmark for what you think our society should aspire to?

Over 40,000 deaths a year. Why don't we outlaw cars? Explain it to me.

That is a big question deserving of a lot of serious discussion. I do know that executing the wrong person for a crime they didn't commit is not justice for the victim, his family, and certainly not for the dead guy that didn't commit the crime.
But executing the right person, is justice for all the people who that right person could/would kill while imprisoned.

As I said before, that remark isn't worthy of reasoned discussion. Go play with the other childish maga cult members.

You whined about the possibility of a few wrongly convicted being executed and you
ignore the reality of 40,000 actually dying each year.

I understand why you're running away.
