“The left has embraced fascism in its purest form”
This is utter lunacy. That so many USMB commenters upvote the ravings of this “
P@triot “ only shows how ignorant of history and how hysterically partisan they are. Of course I assume here “the left” refers to liberal Democrats, most of whom I do not consider real “leftists” at all.
That individual nutcases act horrendously — on both sides of the cultural wars — I certainly recognize. That is not “fascism” but utter stupidity … and when it rises to the level of criminality should of course be punished.
I am a long-time ”social-democrat,” hence a “man of the left” who sees most American culture war politics as (media-fed) madness. Still, I absolutely defend the fundamental rights won in hard struggles over decades by African Americans, women, minorities, and gays from reactionary attacks by Republican politicians, MAGAnuts, fundamentalists, and ignorant racists.
Our Constitutional Republic, corporate-dominated, mostly “Liberal Democratic” society today is in crisis but still very “free”. Under psst Democratic and Republican Party Administrations we have continued to haveb7nmatchrd pers9nal freedoms. Sure, this system has many serious problems (and its foreign policy has often been imperialist toward others) but it is madness to call it either “fascist,” or “pure fascism.”
Nevertheless, morons and aggrieved Trumpster cultists more and more prefer this sort of trolling charge, a reflection of ignorance, childishness and hysteria.
