Tsktsk. That's not how you do it at all. :) You take one very large (3ish cups) travel mug, add 3 Splenda packets, and 2tbsp of half & half, and fill said mug with something flavored. (Cranberry Cream, and Vanilla Nut are the *best*)

You're probably on a sugar high. :D

*sigh* rookie. :D

Oh. Ok. :D You quoted me..

I'm good now.. I have about 3 travel mugs of coffee per day - those USED to be cappuccinos.

I have three big ones a day too. For some reason the cups get bigger when I try to cut back! The next thing you know, I'll be using one of those giant soup bowls shaped like a mug "see, I'm down to one a day" :D

I found a tax record from 1800s that listed the amount
of slaves people owned in the county and in what is now Fayetteville.
We have a teeny tiny museum here called "Museum of the Cape Fear" (Fayetteville before it was named Fayetteville, or Lafayette). In it it has ads and receipts for selling and purchasing slaves here in Fayetteville. We toured it recently and reading that stuff just amazed (and saddened) me. So, I know they did have slaves here. The big controversary around here though, is did they sell them at the MH. I don't know why it's made into a big thing, other than the MH is now a landmark. Although it should be a landmark anyway. During the Civil War, when Sherman and his troops came through Fayetteville, they burned down the whole town, sparing the Market House because Sherman thought it was beautiful.

I don't doubt the river was used to bring slaves to Fay. but now I'm not sure about the dock.
It makes sense it would have been used to unload, being so close to the market, but I find it hard to believe that the local Gov. would not have preserved it either.
While my husband and I were talking about this last night, I showed him the boat and dock pic and he was amazed. I know the boat is there, you can see it when you cross a bridge there. I was asking mom about the dock and she remembers that. She thinks that with all the floods from the Cape Fear it destoyed the dock.
The boat is metal or tin (I don't know) but would that have been used to transport slaves?
