The Houthis just blew up the Greek-flagged oil tanker Sounion in the Red Sea, spilling 150,000 barrels of oil—4 times worse than the Exxon Valdez

The flexibility remark was 2 years before the sanctions in March, 2012.

SEOUL (Reuters) - President Barack Obama was caught on camera on Monday assuring outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he will have "more flexibility" to deal with contentious issues like missile defense after the U.S. presidential election.
Obama, during talks in Seoul, urged Moscow to give him "space" until after the November ballot, and Medvedev said he would relay the message to incoming Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Where's the problem? It looks like the solution to me.

As they should.

They would control the Red Sea. Yemen has been a mess since I was a little girl.

The investment of Saudi Arabia in healthcare, education, clean water, food have been huge for 50 years. I was somewhat hopeful in 2000 when I was in Asir. I met several young people who were educated in those colleges built by Saudi and the Emirates. The Saudis had already moved their border villages back 20 kilometers .

One of my classmates, a friend, worked at the French embassy for twenty years. I was also hopeful when they started excavating ruins related to the Queen of Sheba and production of frankincense and myrr. But, tourism is out of the question.

That's true. The Saudis have captured several shipments .
It appears that Iran has lost control of the Houthis

What do you think?

I think the tie is tenuous at best. Giving them weapons is a problem, but I don't think the Iranians are in control. I just hate to see the Saudis taking heat for this. They and the Emirates have done so much to make life better for the Yemeni people for the past 60 years or so.

but I don't think the Iranians are in control.
Maybe iran thought they could control the Houthis as they do Hezbollah

But the Houthis seem to have other ideas

Remember 2008, when B. Hussein O chose Sleepy Joe for VP? Supposedly what made Biden ideal as VP was due to his tremendous expertise in the field of foreign relations.

Ever since that fool got in, its been just one war or other disaster after another, the only time we had peace and an orderly border was when the Trumpster was in charge.

This has nothing to do with Biden. The Houthis have been attacking oil tankers in the Red Sea for a decade.

Hezbollah is organic.. They appeared in the mid 1980s to keep Israel out of Lebanon.

Really gets my goat.. I love Lebanon and the Israelis have flipped their demographic on its head.

The Houthi takeover in Yemen, also known as the September 21 Revolution (by supporters), or 2014–15 Yemeni coup d'état (by opponents), was a popular revolution against Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi led by the Houthis and their supporters that pushed the Yemeni government from power.

What? Did you forget the Saudis military intervention in Yemen that has caused thousands of deaths?

Now Hezbollah are supplied and directed by Iran

They cooperate very closely

The Houthis attacked the Saudis repeatedly. The Houthis lost against the Egyptians in 1962.

They want to control access to the Red Sea . The Saudis have taken in a million Yemeni refugees and they don't isolate them in refugee camps.

Israel still won't leave Lebanon alone. Ariel Sharon tried to take their rivers like the Litani, Hasbany and Wazamy Rivers.

Yet thousands of Yemenis died from Saudi intervention.

This is a very serious situation for the Houthis

If they continue sinking tankers and other shipping through the Red Sea not even Iran can save them from total destruction
