The First Album You Ever Bought..

I can't remember the first one I bought. But the first one I became obsessed with was 3 Dog Night Live. My Mother played it occasionally and the one tune that got my attention was "Try a Little Tenderness". I thought it was amazing how it started so quiet and built up to such a "crescendo" if that's the right word.

I never listened to music that same way after that and I had an interest in them all through the 70's as a result.

Not the same cut but it's from the same time frame:

I was 12 years old and bought it with my babysitting money.

Me too. I don't remember my exact age, but I was in junior high school; after seeing them on Ed Sulivan, my brother and I had to have it, made a big deal about it, and my mom bought it.

My first year of university, I was involved with a jazz musician, introduced to jazz, and that was pretty much the end of my interest in rock; except for a few exceptions, it has been jazz and blues ever since.
