This little piece opens up a new view on the Russian conflict basically stating the US and Europe are paying Putin to war on Ukraine as both have directed their energy needs away from domestic production.

US 'paying Putin to invade' Ukraine based on energy policy: Oil analyst
Stephen Schork argues US gas prices could surge above $5 in high tax states on Russia-Ukraine conflict

The Schork Group principal Stephen Schork argued on Tuesday that the United States is "paying" Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine based on America’s energy policy.

Speaking on "Mornings with Maria" the oil analyst argued that the U.S. and especially Europe are now seeing "the dark side of the green agenda" as the regions are now "more vulnerable" to a lack of natural resources.

He went on to argue that Europe put all their eggs "into a significant basket, and now they are being held hostage because their primary supplier has chosen to go to war."

Schork made the arguments as benchmark U.S. crude crossed the $100 per barrel level early Tuesday. Brent crude, the global benchmark, was also trading over $100 per barrel as Russia, a major oil producer, continued to invade Ukraine and as the U.S. and its allies stepped up economic sanctions against Russia.

One could conclude that Biden is in fact the one in bed with Putin.

Ridiculous OP and even more ridiculous premise.

From an energy standpoint, it should be abundantly clear that as long as energy is gotten out of the ground and we arbitrarily draw lines on a the ground to decide who has access to that energy, we will always fight over access.

Clearly the better solution is to go to renewables. But we can't get there from here given that we are an energy hungry society. Nuclear seems like the obvious answer--we've had a nuclear navy for like 70 years and there have been very few disasters related to the reactors. They face massive waves, freezing waters, rough seas, etc... As long as we have the Navy run the reactors, we can replicate that stellar performance on land. Everything is a meritocracy, nobody gets a job at a reactor because they know someone who works in HR... Professional, driven, dedicated personnel

Yeah, Nuke disasters can be terrible...but there is risk involved in everything.

The green energy movement is a get rich scheme designed by globalist minded greedy power mad people...halting drilling here in the USA and allowing it everywhere else in the world is stupid at best....

LOL after you've spent decades wishing for a Putin-type despot to rule this country and praising him for all these years. Your stupid comment ends this as CDZ material. What are the Saudi's doing? What's going on with all the other major oil producers? You have a simple mind and simple minds being in charge of complicated problems is the root of all the world's problems.

the real question is simpleton, why aren't taking care of ourselves with domestic production? We are capable.

sure, free nuclear reactors for everyone!! now you are talking. A reactor for my Motorcycle, boat, truck, her car, man you are awesome with ideas, talk about ridiculous

Who said free?

This is why you cannot ever discuss something with a Trump supporters...they are basically dishonest people.

Are you suggesting the U.S. has stopped producing oil? :cuckoo:
we have greatly reduced our output and the feedstocks of the future are no longer thanks to Biden, are you suggesting you are blind and deaf to what is going on in the country?

you are the one being dishonest acting like everyone can have their on nuclear reactor for anything the want. AOC, is that you?

Why did Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline, but fund Russian pipelines?

We all know why, Biden is supported by the green, tree-hugging types who live on college campuses, and want to support their clean eutopias through oil from immoral regimes in Iran and Russia... but they pretend that doesn't happen.

You're confusing ambitious plans to redesign our entire energy structure on things that are NOT alternatives (wind/solar) to RELIABLE power like nuclear, nat gas and hydro -- with the REALITIES of TODAY which is we ARE BUYING twice the oil from Russia than we did a year ago, and OIL/ is 60% of Putin's income. We HAVE given him strategic advantage with that and greenlighting NordStream 2.

Essentially, WE are paying Putin about $90Mill a DAY or $33Bill/YR. And gave him Nordstream 2 -- which is another $68Bill/YR from Europe. THAT's insane. And recently the Biden Admin slapped regs on our LNGas plants that PRECLUDE EXPORTING our excess nat gas in liquid form to bail out Europe's reliance on Russia for nat gas. Wont be any "excess" Nat Gas once the Greenies shut down fracking and drilling.

ALL the current sanctions try to strangle money flows into Russia at the bank level, rather at the MARKET level. We SHOULD sanction Russian oil. Even if our "partners" wont or cant in Europe because they are LITERALLLY "sucking wind and solar" and decommissioning nuke/coal plants.

WE --- should get BACK to "energy independence" so there is no reason for US to be sucked into conflicts around the world. But the Green Raw Deal and KILLING fossil fuels WITHOUT a viable plan to EXPAND grid generation by 36% to accommodate all the EV mandates coming due -- will put us in WORSE shape than Germany is -- energy-wise -- today with DEPENDING on Putin to keep Germans alive and working.
