Zone1 The Bible on faith, unbelief, pride, humility, & finding Jesus

The Bible is a first and second century book for the readers of the times.

It is not for us personally or for our times.
The future is mentioned many times, going out a thousand years after the end of man's/Satan rule.

The future is mentioned many times, going out a thousand years after the end of man's/Satan rule.

It is not for our times. It is not from God. It was written by man. I read a minimum of three chapters daily.

It is a great insight into man and his follies as well as his potential.

Mary Magdaleine from Magda is a story for all of us.

Mary Magdaleine from Magda is a story for all of us.

rather as a deliberate obscurity of 4th century christianity -

the four heavenly exemplars mary joseph jesus and mary m in similarity having no fear of either moses or judaism - their false commandments hereditary idolatry religion of apartheid ... as the true events of the 1st century.

and yet judaism is incorporated in all three desert bibles particularly christianity where judaism is responsible for the 1st century events conclusion by the crucifixion of jesus - and depicts mary magdalene using a colloquial slang as well mary and joseph's affair than true heavenly love between a caring couple into a bizarre fabrication no serious person can truly believe.

- a bible of incredible concoctions forgeries and fallacies have nothing in reality for the events being recorded.

That sounds like eternal life in torment.
Sounds like the lives of the lizards and garter snakes that live under my sheds. While living in the small space under my sheds doesn't do a thing for me, they actually seem to like it. But then, living in God has always been my life, and one I don't want to trade to live in a small, dark place. What say you?

Theists and atheists all rely on faith in the end, since none of their arguments are ever conclusive concerning the existence of God.

I believe (faith) in 'Creator' and remain a cheerful half-agnostic.
Please take this in the spirit it which it is given, John. Move to the right or to the left in your conviction. Belief in the Creator while ignoring the cross pisses Jesus off.

Rev.3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew (as in vomit) thee out of My mouth.

If you believe in the Creator, ask Him to expand your faith, and see what happens...

Not being convinced that a god exists is not faith. I suppose it is possible that a god exists, but I see no reason to believe one does.

See. You are not an authority or a credible sourc.

If you believe no God exists, then you have faith that it is sol
I didn't say I believe no god exists. I suppose the possibility exists, however, I have no reason to believe there is a god. I wish I could still believe in a loving god that really cares about me as i once did. The comfort gained from that belief is wonderful. I just don't see any reason to believe that is true.

Is the failure the belief that God stopped loving you....or could it be the failure was when you stopped loving God?

Perhaps it had something to do with my in depth study of the Bible after retirement. I had been wanting to do that for a long time, since even before I was a deacon, but just didn't have the time, even though I was sure it would help me become a better Christian. Here's a hint. If you want to stay a happy devoted Christian, don't ask the hard questions, and don't honestly evaluate many of the stories in the Bible.

Or maybe don't read ancient accounts like an idiot.

What is your criteria for which parts to believe and which parts to ignore? Believe the parts you like, and ignore the rest?
I don't ignore anything. I use reason and logic to decipher the intent of the author.

So you decide which parts are literal, and which parts are just made up shit? How convenient for you.

No. Reason and logic does. You can't read them like an idiot to confirm one's biases.

So explain the criteria, other than your mood at the time for deciding which column to put them in. Do you have hard fast rules, or is it just because you say so?

Who did you go to for answers to your hard questions? Who was in your Bible Study group; who led it? What resources were you using to do Biblical research? The hard questions are the best ones to ask, and lengthy, in depth evaluation is a necessity.

Clearly you had expectations from your Bible studies, that these studies failed to meet. Was there a particular expectation where your faith began to crumble?

What is your criteria for which parts to believe and which parts to ignore? Believe the parts you like, and ignore the rest?
Biblical accounts are presenting lessons in story form. I find it helpful to identify which literary format is being used to present the lesson. (Don't expect news, Encyclopedia, or textbook formats.) Is the format a Just So story, folklore, fable, legend, apocalyptic, etc.

Remember, the original Hebrew is a picture language, not a subjective language (like most others). Those pictures in word form paints a thousand words. Biblical Hebrew has just over eight thousand words; meanwhile the English language has close to a million words. In each story you are looking at a picture. What you see is even more important than what you are hearing. Find the lesson.
So you decide which parts are literal, and which parts are just made up shit? How convenient for you.
Once again: Hebrew. Throw out literal English and look at the picture(s)--the lesson--the Hebrew is painting.

Also keep in mind not every word in the Bible is about you. It's not your story, it is God's story. And...it's not over...yet.
