During the Vietnam War, American soldiers were sent to battle the Vietcong, an enemy that was part of the landscape of Vietnam
In one instance, a small group of soldiers massacred a small village, not of Vietcong, but of local men, women and children at the village of My Lai
This stayed secret for 2 years and when finally brought to light it was a national disgrace and horror.
Tell me why I’m wrong
Tell me what the difference is between My Lai and Gaza
Vietnamese villagers killed by U.S. soldiers in My Lai Massacre | March 16, 1968 | HISTORY
Big difference.
1. A company under a Lt. William Cally had grown frustrated with the Viet Cong attacks coming out of that area and he ordered his men to line up the women and children from the village and shoot them, which they were doing until a US Helicopter gunner, aimed his machine gun at the soldiers and demanded that they stop or he would shoot them. The attempted massacre then ended and charges were eventually brought on the Lt. and some of his men. Sadly, the most Cally got was 3 years of house arrest.
Now, that was an ISOLATED INCIDENT. Rape has also occurred by some U.S. troops in wartime. Again, these are isolated incidents.
On to GAZA.
Because of the Oslo Accords, the "Palestinians" were given Gaza and the West Bank as part of a partial two state solution. The Gazans were given billions to create a modern infrastructure. Those millions were instead, used for building tunnels and filling them with arms and munitions. Hamas who runs it was fomenting hatred, even having children learn to hate and kill Jews.
On October 7, 2023, a large number of Hamas terrorists broke through fence barriers (you need to be aware that fence barriers and checkpoints were constructed due to repeated terrorist attacks) and attack various Jewish communities and a peace party in the area. They killed approximately 1,200 Israelis, almost exclusively unarmed civilian men, women, children and babies.
Israel had no option but to respond with war against Hamas. Hamas was set up in predominately civilian areas (schools, hospitals, homes, et cetera) and their myriad of tunnels. Before the Israelis struck civilian areas, they warned civilians in those areas to leave. Hamas, wanting negative press against the Israelis, refused to let many civilians leave and even (admitting to it) used them as shields.
Because of this, a fair amount of civilians died in the process. But, Israel and the U.S. remain the extremely few nations that at least give civilians in residential areas, warning prior to attacks.
There has never been and most likely never will be, a war in which civilians don't die. All that can be done is to do as has been done, warn civilians.
That's the stance of Israel and the United States. As for me personally, my stance is nuke Gaza. Let their god sort them out.
