A one-page order signed by conservative Justice Alito on Monday, continued to block a Texas law that would allow police to arrest those suspected of illegally crossing the US border.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday continued to block, for now, a Texas law that would give police broad powers to arrest migrants suspected of illegally entering the U.S. while the legal battle it sparked over immigration authority plays out.

A one-page order signed by Justice Samuel Alito indefinitely prevents Texas from enforcing a sweeping state immigration enforcement law that had been set to take effect this month. The language of the order strongly suggests the court will take additional action, but it is unclear when."

Texas should tell the US Supreme Court to go pound sand, citing as precedence all those liberal states that willfully ignore federal drug laws. States like Colorado, Washington, Oregon, California, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Vermont, Minnesota, etc.

Just follow the law, cowboy....lest you become an Outlaw!

Tell that to every state that ignores federal drug laws, while allowing drug users to possess firearms.

"The federal Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits any person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance as defined by the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 from shipping, transporting, receiving, or possessing firearms or ammunition."

Well, Texas is about 2.8 times bigger than the UK.

And it's not an island floating off the coast of France. :laughing0301:

Are you a Texarsian , Mr Salt?
Because you are using the Big is Beautiful argument when deep down you know that it is quality that counts most of all .

As for France. We sit safely in our castle with a moat running right round , and although Frogs can swim, we have mined the beaches because we know most of the so called illegals trying to enter are bloody disguised Frenchies .

Arkansan by birth, Wisconsinite by current residence, but a true Texan at heart. I lived there for 25 years.

As for those Frenchies, they seem to have gotten the best of you on more than several occasions.

All well and fine as long as everyone else is freely permitted to ignore our laws.

There are times, occasionally, when the Executive should tell the Judiciary to go pound salt, but this ain't one of them. The Feds control immigration, like it or not.

Exhibit A was the time when the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that queer marriage was enshrined in the Constitution of the Commonwealth, and the effect of the ruling was that the only way it could be overturned was by a Constitutional Amendment, which as a practical matter would take at least two years. This meant that literally thousands of queer marriages would surely take place - marriages that could never be dissolved - before the Legislature could overturn the Court.

But Governor Mitt Romney just rolled over...which was his custom.
