I never said there was a legal issue with what Texas is doing. It is, however, unethical and antithesis to representative government. They wouldn't be doing this if they thought they wouldn't lose the House next year and it's setting off a chain reaction in which other states are countering what they're doing with their own.

Out of 435 Congressional districts, only 35 were decided by less than five points last year. That's how gerrymandered our maps have become. Only 35 competitive seats and now it's going to get even worse. This is not representative government; it's an oligarchy.

and yet NY took 4 years to do the same thing, and other States hide behind so called "non partisan commissions" with the same results.

Sorry, but this fight we are in requires being all in. As long as no laws are broken, I don't care what Republicans do to try to avoid losing the House and the Senate in 2026.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he will take steps to remove from the Texas House any Democrats who refuse to show up to work tomorrow by 3pm.

Democrats are refusing to show up in order to “break quorum” to block a vote on new Texas maps which could give Republicans 5 more seats in the US House of Representatives.

“The derelict Democrat House members must return to Texas and be in attendance when the House reconvenes at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4, 2025. For any member who fails to do so, I will invoke Texas Attorney General Opinion No. KP-0382 to remove the missing Democrats from membership in the Texas House.”

Abbott may also pursue felony charges.

It's already gerrymandered, by a 5th Circuit court order that has since been overturned. They were literally ordered to racially gerrymander, which of course, is unconstitutional.

At this point, every district and every state has been gerrymandered in some way, by the party in power. Therefore all gerrymandering is actually re -gerrymandering.
