Most common scammers are single males who never moved away from home. Mom or Dad get old so the SS money goes into a newly created account at a large bank that Mom changes to from her former sole account to one the son is co holder on. The money flows in, she dies, no notices given, the money keeps flowing in.

But let's be honest. Musks/Trumps claims (or inuendo) that there are millions and millions of SS retirement beneficiaries over 100+ receiving benefits is a flat out lie.

The 2020 census put the number of American's over the age of 100 at a little over 90,000. In December SS Retirement benefits were paid to 89,106. Not "millions of people".

The SSA system For ending payments to deceased people is actually very efficient. Ask anyone who works in banking.

Then there should be no problem with the audit. If they don't find anything, great, it's working as advertised. If they do find something, great, we'll save some money and clean stuff up.

Either way, it's a win for everybody, except maybe those getting fraudulent payments.
