Unfortunately, name recognition on a ballot draws many to vote for an incumbent, rather than taking the time to study their history of voting in Congress. Many Americans are lazy.

I'm wishing they would pass an amendment that if ANY government employees do not get paid due to a shutdown, theirs will be the first paychecks held back while they are still required to work anyway, and that their healthcare insurance doesn't get paid in the hold process.

It would be awesome, however unlikely to ever actually become law.

Here in Oregon about 25 years or so ago, we passed term limits for all local and state offices.
At that time Oregon still had enough "red" voters to get it through.

However, after just a few years, a few of the Dim state legislators challenged the will of the people's vote and took the measure to court, based on the way the law was written, a fucking judge threw the law out, and we've never been able to get enough interest in trying to bring it back to the voters since then.

If this passed nationwide, the Constitution would have to be ammended, and even if it was it's very likely some Dim lifers would challenge it in the courts based on some other Constitutional measure.

Term limits are only a passing thought because we have a fucked up system of financing elections.

Elections are the true term limits and would be just that if we took the money out of them.
