Taxes at Lowest Levels in 60 Years

won't be that way when the tax cuts expire.

Are you part of the top 2%?
Those are the only people who will see their taxes go up, the rest of the tax cuts will stay in place.

no i am not. I hope you are correct. I certainly don't take obama's word for it.

Don't take his word for it--Paul Volcker--Obama's economic advisor has already indicated what's coming. A National sales tax and an energy tax. The government spending is unsustainable and they're going to get the money anyway they can.

Obama adviser Volcker says record deficits could lead to new VAT tax - The Hill's On The Money

A measly 5% of the entire population is not capable of paying down this enormous deficit by themselves. Besides the 5% of the over 250K crowd--there is only one group left and that is the middle class of this country.

It's really NOT rocket science.

And so less than 1% of the population of this country will have their taxes raised--and that's going to fix everything---:lol:

They're going to pay down a 12.4 trillion dollar deficit "all by themselves"---:lol:

well we are talking about the tax cuts that are due to expire this year. we are discussing who that will affect, not about the impending deficit and future years' taxes.

There were middle class tax CUTS in the Bush tax cuts that were for the middle class. Obama has extended those for one year--then after that they expire--meaning higher taxes for the middle class.

How hard is that to understand?

Which tax cuts are you specifically referring to? What will the new tax brackets be? Is Obama letting ALL of them expire, or just the ones for the rich?

You do realize that the people that are organizing these TEA Party protests are the rich people who are going to pay more taxes. Guaranteed 99% of the people at the TEA Party Protests don't pay any money to the IRS on April 15.

!!Link!! Oh, you have no proof, just more drival.....that's right everyone over $250K is rich...:lol::lol:

I definitely can not afford to pay more taxes at this time, or when the tax cuts expire, though I do understand that we have to reduce this deficit spending/added debt that is piling up.

No President, since World War 2, has reduced spending. We had a Republican Congress, House AND Senate, for nearly 8 years and we still managed to nearly double our national debt.

Ok, so Bush's tax cuts were originally set to expire in 2011 and now they're going to expire in 2012. And 2012 Obama will be running for re-election. Are you stupid? Do you really believe that a President running on re-election in 2012 is going to RAISE taxes the same year he's running for re-election??

Here's what I bet you will happen. Obama will let the tax cuts expire and replace them with even DEEPER tax cuts. Then what are you tea partiers going to say?

Did the GOP have control of the US House from 1997 to 2007? Did the GOP control the executive for 20 of the last 29 years? Has the GOP and the cult of conservatism shifted the direction of the country towards the right during the last three decades?

Where are you going with this?

Did I make some kind of an assertion that I'm not aware of because all I thought I was going was correcting a small detail in David's post ....

In the beginning of the Bush Administration, the Senate was tied 50-50

The proposed 0bama tax increases will raise us from 37th internationally to fourth in most income taxed nations.

is that where we were at during the clinton years before the bush tax cuts, at 4th highest??? yet we still had the biggest economic expansion in recent history during that same period? that doesn't sound right??

I dont think there is a correlation between the expansions and tax increases. I just know what it will do to my taxes if those cuts are repealed for me.

Exactly Elvis. The suggested rate was 57% from 35. It didn't include sales, state or local taxes. I say go for it and let them tax you for no health insurance too. Remember the joke about how much did you make last year, send it in? Welcome to socialism.

you know Saveliberty....eventually, you will need to support your two contentions...

first that the usa was the 4th highest taxed country in the world for individuals during a period of extraordinary expansion, and second you need to link up this comment of yours above about the tax rate going to 57% from the 35% instead of reverting back to the tax levels people were at, prior to the bush stimulus tax breaks.

In the beginning of the Bush Administration, the Senate was tied 50-50

With Cheney as the President of the Senate as the deciding vote, of which Cheney used several times to break the tie....

the Gop had the majority in the house and senate from the 1994 elections onward....early in the Bush administration, the senate was tied with Cheney as the deciding vote, then it flipped to the dems when Jeffords left the gop as an independent, then something else happened and it reverted right back in to the GOP controlling the senate.

the House was controlled by republicans from the 1994 election through to the 2006 election....and the house controls the purse strings, according to our constitution.

Looks like I'll be doing a lot of supporting soon. Health care for ohters at the expense of my own family's, more taxes so government employees don't have to take a pay cut and countless other projects that benefit almost no one. I think it will be obvious enough without me trotting out a graph.

Health care for others at the expense of your own family? Why? Are your family illegal aliens? If not they'll be covered

so far, you are REQUIRED to pay for health insurance for your own family....is that a problem?

You were and I was asking about GOP control of government bodies/branches

The GOP has had a hand in controlling government for all the years conservatives whine about. It's as if the conservatives are hiding the fact that when they are in power, taxes rise, government grows...

Wasn't the Senate tied a few years during the Bush (W) administration?

All those times, the GOP has some measure of control---what did they do?
