How can the U.S. Treasury Department be so screw up to not know who paid it? These companies paying the tariffs and brought the case certainly didn't send the money anonymously.

Good question. I guess the answer is that the tariff is not handled as a separate item, just becomes part of the trade cost, like going from $100 to $115 for an import. Thing is, who pays it? Does the importer pay it? The manufacturer? The retailer here in the USA or the final consumer?

Ultimately, who really paid for the tariffs, not just who was first in the chain. Thing is, Dems said it all fell on consumer's shoulders and you cannot very well track down every consumer and every purchase, besides, if the consumer paid the tariff, then what happened to the massive spiraling of inflation Democrats warned would be the result?
