TAPS- Why America is Not Coming Back

Our debt continues to Steam Roll..........The interest on the same will eventually be the largest spending program of all programs in the Federal Gov't..........Currently at over 400 Billion a year and projected to double some where after 2020............

Solutions...........One side says to tax the rich tax the rich thinking they are modern day Robing Hoods..............You could take all their money and it still wouldn't fix the dang thing........It also kills jobs as it forces more to leave the country as well.........Ask Japan on this and look at the liquidity trap.

Free Trade versus Fair Trade..........While I don't agree with compete Protectionism, we cannot allow Free Trade with countries who don't play by the same rules. If they don't have similar regulations such as the EPA standards, or labor standards then TARIFFS should be imposed. Prime example being China..........they have laughable standards but now trade Freely as they have actually stopped some of our trades in foods...............That is double standards, and is quite simply wrong. Both sides are guilty of pushing Free Trade.........and I will again get back lash from the people I usually agree with on this issue........If it isn't broke don't fix it..........which is exactly what I said in the 90's.........We negotiated Trade on a country by country basis for 200 years and it worked........So we ditched it and went postal on Free Trade..................

Currency velocity has been in a steady decline since 2000.......As businesses moved overseas for low regulations and FREE TRADE.............Our Job participation rate is also in steady decline.........Currently it is still in the dumps...............aka NO JOBS................

Current administration and Obamacare is also taking it's toll.............30 hour work weeks and businesses shutting down rather than pay the BS of Obamacare..........As well over 10 million, if you count the families, losing their dang insurance............

Then cost of living like your power bill..............Obama stated energy would necessarily skyrocket.........In areas were coal is under attack, it is doing as he promised..........Not through Congress, but through the EPA.....................and they cheer on how they save the planet as they throw grandma off the train because she can't afford the power bill anymore..........

And on and on and on.................

Will this change.........Nope.

No, guy, what hurts you is that most people aren't buying into the game anymore.

I mean, a few of you dumb, gun-toting trailer trash listen to Rush and the Dick Dynasty guy and think you are getting ahead, but the rest of us are trying to make a just society.

Which I think is pretty awesome. Almost gives me hope for humanity.

For you to have hope, you'll want us to keep losing it

-Geaux

As in the hope that others will follow in your footsteps of willful ignorance and bigotry.

Sorry, much of the younger generation is ditching your kind of pathological ideologies and working for a better world.

We Are Not Coming Back
Please take a moment to digest this provocative article by a Jewish Rabbifrom Teaneck , N.J.
It is far and away the most succinct and thoughtful explanation of how our nation is changing. The article appeared in The Israel National News, and is directed to Jewish readership. 70% of American Jews vote as Democrats. The Rabbi has some interesting comments in that regard.

Rabbi Steven Pruzansky is the spiritual leader of Congregation Bnai Yeshurun in Teaneck, New Jersey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The most charitable way of explaining the election results of 2012 is that Americans voted for the status quo - for the incumbent President and for a divided Congress. They must enjoy gridlock, partisanship, incompetence, economic stagnation and avoidance of responsibility. And fewer people voted.
But as we awake from the nightmare, it is important to eschew the facile explanations for the Romney defeat that will prevail among the chattering classes. Romney did not lose because of the effects of Hurricane Sandy that devastated this area, nor did he lose because he ran a poor campaign, nor did he lose because the Republicans could have chosen better candidates, nor did he lose because Obama benefited from a slight uptick in the economy due to the business cycle.
Romney lost because he didn't get enough votes to win.
That might seem obvious, but not for the obvious reasons. Romney lost because the conservative virtues - the traditional American virtues – of
Liberty, hard work, free enterprise, private initiative and aspirations to moral greatness - no longer inspire or animate a majority of the electorate.
The simplest reason why Romney lost was because it is impossible to compete against free stuff.
Every businessman knows this; that is why the "loss leader" or the giveaway is such a powerful marketing tool. Obama's America is one in which free stuff is given away: the adults among the 47,000,000 on food stamps clearly recognized for whom they should vote, and so they did, by the tens of millions; those who - courtesy of Obama - receive two full years of unemployment benefits (which, of course, both disincentivizes looking for work and also motivates people to work off the books while collecting their windfall) surely know for whom to vote. The lure of free stuff is irresistible.
The defining moment of the whole campaign was the revelation of the secretly-recorded video in which Romney acknowledged the difficulty of winning an election in which "47% of the people" start off against him because they pay no taxes and just receive money - "free stuff" - from the government.
Almost half of the population has no skin in the game - they don't care about high taxes, promoting business, or creating jobs, nor do they care that the money for their free stuff is being borrowed from their children
And from the Chinese.
They just want the free stuff that comes their way at someone else's expense. In the end, that 47% leaves very little margin for error for any Republican, and does not bode well for the future.
It is impossible to imagine a conservative candidate winning against such overwhelming odds. People do vote their pocketbooks. In essence, the people vote for a Congress who will not raise their taxes, and for a President who will give them free stuff, never mind who has to pay for it.
That engenders the second reason why Romney lost: the inescapable conclusion that the electorate is ignorant and uninformed. Indeed, it does not pay to be an informed voter, because most other voters - the clear majority – are unintelligent and easily swayed by emotion and raw populism. That is the indelicate way of saying that too many people vote with their hearts and not their heads. That is why Obama did not have to produce a second term agenda, or even defend his first-term record. He needed only to portray Mitt Romney as a rapacious capitalist who throws elderly women over a cliff, when he is not just snatching away their cancer medication, while starving the poor and cutting taxes for the rich.
During his 1956 presidential campaign, a woman called out to Adlai Stevenson: "Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!" Stevenson called back: "That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"
Truer words were never spoken.
Obama could get away with saying that "Romney wants the rich to play by a different set of rules" - without ever defining what those different rules were; with saying that the "rich should pay their fair share" - without ever defining what a "fair share" is; with saying that Romney wants the poor, elderly and sick to "fend for themselves" - without even acknowledging that all these government programs are going bankrupt, their current insolvency only papered over by deficit spending.
Similarly, Obama (or his surrogates) could hint to blacks that a Romney victory would lead them back into chains and proclaim to women that their abortions and birth control would be taken away.. He could appeal to Hispanics that Romney would have them all arrested and shipped to Mexico and unabashedly state that he will not enforce the current immigration laws. He could espouse the furtherance of the incestuous relationship between governments and unions - in which politicians ply the unions with public money, in exchange for which the unions provide the politicians with votes, in exchange for which the politicians provide more money and the unions provide more votes, etc., even though the money is gone.
Obama also knows that the electorate has changed - that whites will soon be a minority in America (they're already a minority in California) and that the new immigrants to the US are primarily from the Third World and do not share the traditional American values that attracted immigrants in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a different world, and a different America . Obama is part of that different America , knows it, and knows how to tap into it. That is why he won.
Obama also proved again that negative advertising works, invective sells, and harsh personal attacks succeed. That Romney never engaged in such diatribes points to his essential goodness as a person; his "negative ads" were simple facts, never personal abuse - facts about high unemployment,
lower take-home pay, a loss of American power and prestige abroad, a lack of leadership, etc. As a politician, though, Romney failed because he did not embrace the devil's bargain of making unsustainable promises.
It turned out that it was not possible for Romney and Ryan - people of substance, depth and ideas - to compete with the shallow populism and platitudes of their opponents. Obama mastered the politics of envy – of class warfare - never reaching out to Americans as such but to individual groups, and cobbling together a winning majority from these minority groups. If an Obama could not be defeated - with his record and his vision of America , in which free stuff seduces voters - it is hard to envision any change in the future.
The road to Hillary Clinton in 2016 and to a European-socialist economy - those very economies that are collapsing today in Europe - is paved.
For Jews, mostly assimilated anyway and staunch Democrats, the results demonstrate again that liberalism is their Torah. Almost 70% voted for a
president widely perceived by Israelis and most committed Jews as hostile to Israel . They voted to secure Obama's future at America 's expense and at Israel 's expense - in effect, preferring Obama to Netanyahu by a wide margin.
A dangerous time is ahead. Under present circumstances, it is inconceivable that the US will take any aggressive action against Iran and will more
likely thwart any Israeli initiative. The US will preach the importance of negotiations up until the production of the first Iranian nuclear weapon - and then state that the world must learn to live with this new reality.
But this election should be a wake-up call to Jews. There is no permanent empire, nor is there an enduring haven for Jews anywhere in the exile. The American empire began to decline in 2007, and the deterioration has been exacerbated in the last five years. This election only hastens that decline.
Society is permeated with sloth, greed, envy and materialistic excess. It has lost its moorings and its moral foundations.. The takers outnumber the givers, and that will only increase in years to come.
The "Occupy" riots across this country in the last two years were mere dress rehearsals for what lies ahead - years of unrest sparked by the increasing discontent of the unsuccessful who want to seize the fruits and the bounty of the successful, and do not appreciate the slow pace of redistribution.
If this election proves one thing, it is that the Old America is gone. And, sad for the world, it is not coming back."
then leave and lets us who believe in this country make it great again
LOL
Liberal policy making it great again...........Perhaps more Trillions in stimulus because of your destructive economic policies...................
The only way to turn this country around is to Run Right over people like you...........Who believe the Gov't is the answer to everything, when it is the cause of everything.............
The OP believes that those who vote are on the dole................Nero type stuff.........Hell we are getting free shit, and who cares if the other side of Rome is in flames.................
Your side throws gas on a fire to try and put it out...................You have NO INTENTIONS of FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.................and thus you must be TAKEN OUT OF POWER to turn this thing around..........
As do the RHINO'S....................and ALL STATUS QUO JERKS who have screwed the future of our country.
What is conservatism? In my opinion, it is respect for the past and the wisdom of our ancestors. Their lives were built on their ancestors and so it goes, from one generation to the next. You ultimately respect their lives and toil not by paying lip service to it or using empty rhetoric like 'family values'. You do it by embracing those values. You do it by making their hard earned lessons your easy learned lessons. You do it by respecting and fighting for the policies and programs they crafted that increased the benefits and lessened the losses to our communities and our society.
How did our ancestors craft these policies and programs, were they based on some ideology? I believe they were based on common decency, respect for your neighbors, common sense, experience, trial and error and a strong sense of community.
I was raised in the 1950's. My dad was the sole provider, and my mom was a housewife and mother. We didn't call it 'family values', we called it family. When I came home from school, no matter what kind of day I had, it became brighter as soon as I walked in the door to a 'hi honey' from my mom. It not only brightened my day, it built self worth and a positive self image. All my friends and school mates had a similar story...a father that worked and a mother that stayed home to raise and nurture their children. None of us kids ever knew or even cared what anyone else's father did for a living. None of us had to go without; food, clothing, pets, bikes, baseball gloves, doctor care (our doctor used to come to the house), a quality public education with all the extras; sports, arts, school run ice rink, summer swimming and sports programs etc. But none of us were pampered or spoiled either.
THAT is exactly what I want for my kids and for my grand-kids.
So...In a very real way I AM truly a conservative.
So, what is conservatism? I don't hear people that call themselves conservatives talk that way or think that way. I don't hear talk of building, I hear talk of tearing down. I don't hear talk of a helping hand, I hear talk of letting them fail. I don't hear talk of the public good, I hear talk about me and mine. I don't hear compassion for fellow citizens, I hear disdain. I never hear them talk about human capital, just mammon. These so called conservatives are ideologues that want to dismantle any shred of community and replace it with SELF interest.
That is not 'conservatism', that is called narcissism.
You mean the CEO's that invented employer provided healthcare?
Actually, employer provided health care was created because the government capped salaries during WWII.
But that's neither here nor there.
The rest of the world had the good sense to go to single payer or universal insurance, while we have our system that costs the most and has the worst results.
These so called conservatives are ideologues that want to dismantle any shred of community and replace it with SELF interest.
That is not 'conservatism', that is called narcissism.
"You shall rise in the presence of grey hairs, give honor to the aged, and fear God, I am the Lord"
Leviticus 19:32
Standard BS...............
Your Cure for the common cold is CANCER....................
We cannot sustain this path, and until you get your head out and realize REALITY of what is to come, you are the problem...................
It all sounds so Cool..........We help people, and you people have no compassion for Americans...........We help people and you guys put them on the streets..............
ALL BS............Your path is wrong.........It continues the economic decline of our country.........your very policies increase the cost of living and PUT PEOPLE OUT OF WORK...............
But if it sounds COOL, then you can ignore the damage because of your idealism........You turkeys need to get out of power............As do all Status Quo.............and RETURN THIS COUNTRY TO A REPUBLIC............Not a pure Democracy that your side LOVES.
You are talking with your anal sphincter.
The 'path' that led to the decline of America falls squarely on Ronald Reagan and Republicans.
The BIGGEST failure in American history was the 'Reagan revolution' and 'Reaganomics'. It even trumps the failure of the Bolshevik revolution. And the real irony is you can't tell a Marxist from a 'Marketist' in policy, ideology or results. They are cut from the same cloth.
Where did our debt come from? When did massive debt become part of the American economy?
Reagan switched the federal government from what he critically called, a “tax and spend” policy, to a “borrow and spend” policy, where the government continued its heavy spending, but used borrowed money instead of tax revenue to pay the bills. The results were catastrophic. Although it had taken the United States more than 200 years to accumulate the first $1 trillion of national debt, it took only five years under Reagan to add the second one trillion dollars to the debt. By the end of the 12 years of the Reagan-Bush administrations, the national debt had quadrupled to $4 trillion!
And where was all this angst and concern about debt from conservatives when Bush and Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress for almost a decade??? When Bush was starting a 3 trillion dollar war of ideology in Iraq, there was not a fucking PEEP from you right wingers, just cheers and 'bring 'em on'... And where was this less government mantra? You right wingers LOVED BIG government and government intervention into people lives... the Patriot Act, trashing habeas corpus, the Geneva Conventions and the US War Crimes Act.
that city was destroyed by CEOs you idiot
You mean the CEO's that invented employer provided healthcare?
.
Actually, employer provided health care was created because the government capped salaries during WWII.
But that's neither here nor there.
The rest of the world had the good sense to go to single payer or universal insurance, while we have our system that costs the most and has the worst results.
but some guy in a corner office is getting a nine-figure salary, and that's the important thing.
I know what it was Joe ... And you do too.
Own it ... And make more sense when you and Truthmatters post.
No need to brush it off because it suits your ill-intended crap.
when the car industry no longer wanted to be there they left.
You claim they left because they were treated so bad.
They left for profits.
that is the only reason they do anything
yeah see what corporate worship gets you?
they trash you and abandon you if there is profit in it
the economy does better under dems.
Your head is full of right wing swill
I guess you think the Democrats that have run Detroit for the last half-century must have been worshiping the corporations.
The condition of Detroit is an excellent example of what any Liberal Mecca is worth without corporations.
Please try to understand what, where and who you are posting about.
fox lies clutter your three brain cells
The Republic will not revive unless it changes its economic policies.
That is what is killing our republic and that is what we would need to fix.
We won't because WE do not control this Republic.
i'm sorrry, I know sniffing CEO flatulence has made you woozy, but here's the thing.
Private insurance sucks.
It costs more and produces worse results.
We have the lowest life expectency in the industrialized world and an infant mortality rate that is comparable to third world countries, and we spend 20% of our GDP for the privalage. (Most countries only spend about 8% of their GDP on health care.)
