Taiwan built high-speed rail, why can’t California?
Here is a pretty good reason. A High Speed Rail can only be built if it's put on a National Level. And then Nationally funded. That means that it has to be done at a Federal Level. It's expensive and intensive. ALL the successful high speed rails are Nationally supported and always will be. Or at least until they get the point of reach self sufficiency. Until the Feds pony up with a whole bunch of billions of bucks on a yearly basis, there just won't be a high speed rail.
California has an economy equal to the 7th largest nation. Taiwan doesn't.Because Taiwan isn’t controlled by Democrats, duh.

On day 1 I was pointing out even the LA to SF run was more time than just jumping on a plane. It was doomed from the start.I would be very ashamed to admit I were a democrat today....with their lies and deception and out and out craziness...now California is stuck with a big train to nowhere boondoggle....now it will only run if built from Fresno to LA...if a bullet train was ever needed in the state that is the least of places it would be needed...but you can bet the sticky fingers will fuck that small run up too....we the people in CA will end up with egg on our faces but the stupid dem voters here will still stick with the dem party....that is how stupid they are...
