Syl Johnson, Chicago soul singer widely sampled in hip-hop, is dead at 85

The singer's 1968 hit "Different Strokes" became a popular hip-hop sample used by artists like Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy and Kanye West.

Thanks for the posts. Syl was the brother of bluesman Jimmy Johnson, who died just in the past week at age 93. They recorded an album/CD together, and titled it "Two Johnsons Are Better Than One". Unfortunately, it didn't get very good reviews. I've never heard it. RIP to both of these fine musicians.
