Gov. Gavin Newsom found a novel way to boost both his political war chest and his memoir sales, by tying the two together.

The Democrat offered supporters a copy of his book, “Young Man in a Hurry: A Memoir of Discovery,” in exchange for donations of any size to his political action committee.

New federal filings released Wednesday show Newsom’s PAC, Campaign for Democracy, shelled out $1,561,875 to purchase and distribute those books through the promotion.

Kind of interesting that in recent history people running for president have felt that part of the process was to write a book either just before or around the time they are running. Then it occurred to me that, to the best of my knowledge, Trump did not do this. Yes, Trump has written at least one book in the past but not at the time he was running for president in any of those three elections. He won twice without having written a book at all during those times he was running.

I hope this Newsom thing bodes well for Americans being uninterested in him and I also hope it bodes well that their options are so bad that Kamala Harris is leading the polls over all of them, even though Americans as a whole soundly rejected her. How bad does that make all of the others, including Newsom?
