They need to invoke strict ethical standards and enforce them

Both the Media and politicians do a great disservice to both the Justices and the country by reporting on cases as though they were POLICY DECISIONS made by the Court.

Those who have studied the issue over many decades know that it was the Warren Court that got into the business of making policy; it was a relatively rare phenomenon prior to that gang coming on the scene. But those Justices - particularly Brennan and Marshall - made no secret of the fact that they were casting their votes and writing their opinions based not on the Constitution, but on their own personal policy preferences. The most blatant example was on the matter of the death penalty; they both publicly declared that they wanted to abolish it, and would vote to abolish it, the Constitution notwithstanding.

The second illustrative matter was of course, abortion, where the court simply wrote itself a statute that became the law of the land - with not even a lifeline to the Constitution. It was totally judge-made "law."

The current Supreme Court infuriates Leftists because they base their decisions on the Constitution, going back to the way the Court behaved prior to Earl Warren. Indeed, there is not a single "controversial" holding they have made that has not been soundly grounded in the Constitution.

At the present time, the Political Left is doing everything it can to de-legitimize the Court, then they shriek that the Court has lost "credibility" with the public with its recent decisions.

The Left is evil. There is no other explanation.
