You gotta hand it to them, R's play the long game.

Mods, this was cut and pasted from an email sent by attorney Mark Elias, who runs this site.

After Supreme Court’s destruction of Voting Rights Act, here’s the latest on redistricting:

  • Alabama: Gov. Kay Ivey (R) called a special session to reinstate the state’s old gerrymander before the midterms — pending a greenlight from SCOTUS.
  • Louisiana: The state successfully suspended its U.S. House primaries yesterday. There are already three lawsuits against the state for halting its active election and nullifying votes.
  • Tennessee: In a move that may eliminate its one blue congressional seat and disenfranchise Black voters, Tennessee is now seeking to redistrict mid-cycle.
  • South Carolina: Lawmakers and the state GOP have urged the governor to call for a special session to mid-cycle redistrict.
  • Georgia: The governor has said he won’t call a special session to redraw for 2026, but as we saw after Alabama’s 180, that could change.

  • Florida: We’re waiting for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to sign the recently passed gerrymandered map.

  • Virginia: The Republican National Committee is appealing its loss in a third challenge to Virginia's 10-1 congressional map approved by voters last month.

Now Red states can correct the racial districts created by democrats and I cant wait fir democrats to scream racism

Apparently for racist lefties, NOT being able to gerrymander based on race is racist.

You REALLY can't make this shit up.

It is good to see that Race Based districts have been shot down. There never should have been race based districts to begin with. That in itself is racist.
I know it shouldn’t have happened, but it’s the result of systemic racism in the states involved. Do better!

The fundamental misunderstanding you have is thinking the SCOTUS has banned race based gerrymandering. When in fact what it did, or what the Court's conservatives did, was to limit the ability of minority voters to challenge voting maps that dilutes their political power. The effect being a number of southern states are now busily redrawing maps that will intentionally eliminate districts that are demographically likely to elect a black representative in order to make it likely a white representative will be elected instead. Got it, champ?

You don’t accept facts unless they align with your narrative.
I don't accept crap that isn't factual and I stand ready to prove it isn't. More than I can say for you.

Oh shut up...You're well known to lie, and use nothing but far left sites that mean nothing....Your arguments are regularly shot down, whether you aknowledge that or not...You are not what you think you are Berg...

Apparently for white racists, whites are not a race, so when districts are redone to make them white, it's not racial gerrymandering.

You REALLY can't make this shit up.

Alabama prepares to eliminate majority-Black districts, while moving forward with elections it may annul

Alabama lawmakers will convene Monday afternoon for an astonishing eleventh-hour special session to prepare the state to use a gerrymandered map that dilutes the power of Black voters.

It’s part of a sweeping bid to give Republicans an advantage in the 2026 midterm elections.

The rapid-fire redistricting session would be unprecedented on its own. But just hours before the session was set to convene, Secretary of State Wes Allen (R) announced that Alabama would also move ahead with its May 19 primary election using the old map while it waits for two court decisions affecting voting districts.

That approach — which might require annulling the first vote and holding a second — will likely create confusion for many voters. It comes after President Donald Trump urged GOP officials in Southern states to follow a plan along those lines, adding: ā€œIf they have to vote twice, so be it.ā€

The stunning sequence of events underscores the contempt with which Republican officials have treated the democratic process as they scramble to take advantage of last week’s Supreme Court ruling allowing them to scrap majority-Black districts.

Earlier in the thread a trumple said the SCOTUS had outlawed race based districts. :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: Tell that to southern R's.

Partisan Hackery

Destroying the Voting Rights Act wasn’t enough.

The Supreme Court gifted Republicans another partisan political advantage Monday, deviating from its normal procedure by immediately certifying last week’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais and sending it back to the lower court, rather than waiting the usual 32 days under its own rules. The court offered no real explanation for its ruling.

Accelerating the usual timing will make it easier for Louisiana to redraw its House district maps to eliminate at least one of its two majority-Black districts before the midterm elections.

It also added insult to injury, as the Roberts Court has been wildly inconsistent in applying its own principle that federal courts should not intervene in redistricting cases too close to elections. In this case, the court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais came after mail-in voting in the House primary elections were already under way. The new special dispensation for Louisiana came after its Republican governor suspended the House primaries in order to redraw the districts in light of Louisiana v. Callais.

I wish it wasn't accurate to say these rulings are targeting black representation in Congress, but it is.

I don't think the R's are looking at the upcoming midterms with hopes of retaining control of the House thanks to the disaster that is trump.
Obama lost 63 House seats and 6 Senate seats in 2010.

What's your prediction for Trump? 70, 80, in the House? 10 in the Senate?

I wish it wasn't accurate to say these rulings are targeting black representation in Congress, but it is.
How can that be? It's illegal to generate these lines on the basis of race.

Maybe don't be such a coward and try to refute the facts in the article.

So, you have chosen to take the coward's way out. Not surprising.

Republicans rush to redraw electoral maps just hours after SCOTUS guts Voting Rights Act

Mere hours after the U.S. Supreme Court garrotted the Voting Rights Act’s (VRA) safeguards against racial gerrymandering, Republicans across the nation — but particularly in the South — called on GOP legislatures to redraw congressional maps ahead of November’s midterm elections.

Florida was already working on a newly gerrymandered map, which passed both chambers hours after the court’s decision in Louisiana v. Callais was announced Wednesday. But as the ink was still drying on the Supreme Court’s opinion, many Republicans rushed to catch up to the Sunshine State.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R), who is running for Tennessee governor, posted a picture of an all-red congressional map of the state, writing ā€œI urge our state legislature to reconvene to redistrict another Republican seat in Memphis. It’s essential to cement @realDonaldTrump’s agenda and the Golden Age of America.ā€

Her primary opponent, Rep. John Rose (R-Tenn.), made a similar call on X, saying the one district held by Democrats there should be redrawn to the GOP’s advantage. ā€œMemphis deserves Republican representation in Congress,ā€ he wrote. ā€œToday’s Supreme Court ruling paves the way for that.ā€

Is that what you think happened? Race based districts designed to eliminate black representation is back on the menu after being outlawed by the VRA. Gutting it being a lifelong goal of Roberts.

John Roberts’ effort to gut the Voting Rights Act is complete

the VRA was bastardized to stretch from voting to the assumption that only people of one race can represent said race, and only if that race isn't white.

ā€œNow it’s time for the Alabama Legislature to act and redraw these districts the right way, fair, constitutional, and representative of our communities,ā€ U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) wrote on social media. :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg: :auiqs.jpg:
