More recently a self-described organization of “minor-attracted people,” B4U-ACT, held a symposium proposing a new definition of pedophilia in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders of the APA.
B4U-ACT and other pedophile advocacy organizations cite an APA issued a report claiming “that the ‘negative potential’ of adult sex with children was ‘overstated’ and that ‘the vast majority of both men and women reported no negative sexual effects from childhood sexual abuse experiences.”
In 2013 in California Congresswoman Rep. Jackie Speier, a Democrat, proposed federalizing a state law prohibiting counseling to change a person’s sexual orientation. The bill, according to critics, defines pedophilia as a sexual orientation and would afford the same rights granted to homosexuals.
“This language is so broad and vague, it arguably could include all forms of sexual orientation, including pedophilia,” said Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute. “It’s not just the orientation that is protected — the conduct associated with the orientation is protected as well.”
Democrats defeated an amendment by Republicans that stated “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation.” A Florida Democrat, Rep. Alcee Hastings, said all alternative sexual lifestyles should be protected under the law.

(RETHINK SOCIETY) California Congresswoman, Rep. Jackie Speier CA (D), wants to federalize a state law to prohibit counseling to change a person’s sexual orientation. That doesn’t sound that extreme, but pedophilia is a sexual orientation according to this bill as well.
Under the bill’s language, a mental health counselor could be sanctioned if there was an attempt to get a pedophile or gay individual to change his behavior or speak negatively about their behavior as it relates to sexuality.
The bill calls on states to prohibit efforts to change a minor’s sexual orientation, even if the minor requests it, saying that doing so is “dangerous and harmful.”
The text of the legislation doesn’t specifically ban “gay” conversion therapy. Instead, it prohibits attempts to change a person’s sexual orientation.
“Sexual orientation change efforts’ means any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation,” the bill says.
Republicans attempted to add an amendment specifying that, “pedophilia is not covered as an orientation.” However, the Democrats defeated the amendment. Rep. Again, what does this have to do with what Ginsburg said? Also do you understand that laws are written all the time where they are not specific and thus allow others to point out loopholes in them so they can shoot them down. People always assume the worst and that the broad language was done deliberately, but no, most times it isn't, it's just a lack of foresight and understanding what extremes people will try to take it to.

I'm just very organized in how I accept my media. When I can't get past the FIRST lie or assertion, I want to know why that media outlet lied to me. That's just the way I would hope MOST people would do "buy ins" on assertions. I don't mind conspiracies -- I have a few of my own. But I'm WORKING on them. Not ready for prime time.
And this board just isn't structured to have rolling artillery battles over 5 or 8 skirmishes at once..
Do you understand how Ms Ginsburg was mis-interpreted? Can you see how that MIGHT have been taken out of context? Now understand -- I don't fully trust Media Matters either. Because MMatters has been caught lying to me several times. But in the link I provided -- they provided a credible explanation for a Justice Ginsburg thesis that was much more complicated than simply advocating for LEGALIZING pedophilia --- as it says in your OP. Doesn't even mean I AGREE with the REAL story of what she was whining about. I'm not a dupe. I question stuff because my wheelhouse is science/engineering and nerds just are built that way...

“Because the court finds that SB 1172 is subject to strict scrutiny and is unlikely to satisfy this standard, the court finds that plaintiffs are likely to succeed on the merits of their claims based on violations of their rights to freedom of speech under the First Amendment,” wrote Judge Shubb.
“This victory sends a clear signal to all those who feel they can stifle religious freedom, free speech, and the rights of parents without being contested,” said PJI President, Brad Dacus. “We at PJI are ready to fight this battle all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.
