Zone1 Supreme Court issues emergency order to block full SNAP food aid payments

My opinion of Donald Trump as not a good person was pretty much cemented by this news story.

I understand the political “game of chicken” being played by him and congressional Republicans over the government shutdown, but when he chose to block court-ordered SNAP food benefits—knowing it would delay or deny food assistance to families already waiting more than a week—it crossed a line.

The greed on display is sickening, especially from someone spending public money hand over fist on vanity projects while ignoring what actually contributes to the prosperity and wellbeing of ordinary Americans.

Our government is supposed to be of the people, for the people, by the people. Right now, all most of the people — from the poorest families to the working and middle class—are getting is screwed over.

It is entirely the fault of Schmucky Schumer and his nitwit Democrat associates in Congress.

It is imperative to say “no” to extortion.

Why are you so scared of Pam and Kash?

Have you been stealing from the taxpayer?
Anybody with half of a functioning brain cell would be afraid of what they are doing to this country . Have you considered a visit to the wizard of Oz ?

I am not stealing from the taxpayers, but that bloated and demented shit bag in the white house is.

Were you one of the "hate hoaxing homos" on 1/6?

Were you involved in fudging election results in 2020?

Were you part of "Crossfire Hurricane?"

Yeah its rather bizarre.

First...why did the blob have to be ordered by a court to provide SNAP benefits in the first place (meaning that some party had to file suit to start with). Especially in the light of sending $20B to Argentina.

Secondly...why did the administration appeal the ruling? Do they not want to feed people? Obviously the answer is yes.

BOSTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Friday granted the Trump administration’s emergency appeal to temporarily block a court order to fully fund SNAP food aid payments amid the government shutdown.
And Jackson issued the stay.

I guess she has now been bought too.

Clean Debate Zone

LOL!!!

I don't think you do.

Democrats have refused to approve the CLEAN Biden Era CR 13 times.

Whose shutdown does that make this?
They haven't refused to approve it, they simply want it to include an extension of the expanded ACA subsidies or better yet, make them permanent. They had no problem making the tax breaks for the billionaires permanent, why are you letting them off of the hook for refusing to help the American people who are most in need.

Breaks for the billionaires generated from cuts in healthcare and food benefits for low-income Americans. That seems equitable to you?

SCHUMER SHUTDOWN. A clean CR has been presented to the democrats to keep the gov't open while facilitating budget negotiations. Republicans have voted to accept it and Schumer's democrats have chosen to reject it FIFTEEN times. Trump has NO VOTE, so your attempt to vilify him for Schumer's actions are purely false.

Please link to those 'vanity projects' that are publicly funded. If you are referring to the East Wing of the WH, that is privately funded with a big chunk of the funding coming from YOUR boss, Bill Gates and Microsoft.
Bill Gates has NEVER been my boss, I'm pretty sure his name isn't even on any of my certifications. But no, I was NOT referring to the alleged renovation of the east wing of the white house. I was thinking more of his "birthday" parade and all of the projects they have wasted vast sums of money on in which they start and never finish it or don't achieve their stated goals.

Why are you still following me around and nagging me?

You perceive the government not feeding people to be the problem. I see people not developing themselves into being self sufficient and families not helping to be the problem.
No, that's just your simple minded way of taking a complex problem and attempting to distill it down to an answer in just a few words.

No, the government not feeding people in this instance is not the problem I'm complaining about. It's the lack of foresight on the part of the government that allowed people to be deprived of benefits they need to feed themselves and their families.

The cruel part though is once they understood this to the be the problem, they compounded it by taking an action that they knew would further delay them being fed for an even a longer period of time. In this case fighting a court order to fund the program so that the SNAP beneficiaries can get their benefits and put food on the table.

They're asking the Supreme Court of the United States to rule that they don't have to fund all of the benefits that the people are entitled to for even this month. Who knows what's going to happen next month.

Please show me any portion of the enumerated powers in Articme I, Section 8 of the Constitution that gives Congress the power to spend Government money to help ANY individual citizen. Look hard because I can’t find one.
Maybe you're citing the wrong article?!?

So let's say that the government shutdown drags on until January 2026 or longer and everyone who selected a ACA plan from the marketplace during the current open enrollment period happening now, at a cost that they believe they could afford, suddenly finds that their monthly premium shoots up by several hundred or even a thousand dollars a month.

What do you believe will happen at that point?

But it was Jumanji Brown Jackson who issued the order to pause full payment of SNAP funds. :laughing0301:

Why are you blaming Trump?

Nothing complex in getting a job or going self employed. I've been doing that for 40 years, the last 21 self employed. What do you find complex with that?
