Supreme Court gives Texas the green light

The Supreme Court will allow Texas to use a congressional map that adds as many as five Republican seats for next year’s midterm elections, boosting the GOP’s chances of retaining control of the House of Representatives.

The justices on Thursday set aside a lower court decision that had blocked the new electoral lines. The lower court found that the new map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, but the Supreme Court said that decision appeared to be wrong.

The court’s three liberal justices dissented, with Justice Elena Kagan accusing the majority of improperly substituting its own judgment for the lower court’s factual findings.

It's a good day for Texas, not so good for Democrats. Let the "experts" opinions begin.

You also just gave California and Virginia the green light to do the same. You guys are stealing democracy from millions of people in this country for what? A result that will now basically be a wash and you'll still lose the House anyway.

Is this not cheating OP?

Are they in california district maps not illegal also? With 44M dems and 33M repubs, yet repubs only hold 9 out of 54 districts (17%)

Same in maryland. Harris got about 2M votes and trump got 1M yet repubs only hold 1 out of 8 districts. (13%)

Im sure there are others.

So now there's another hyper-partisan weapon for the tribes to use.

We're going in the wrong direction, as fast as we can.

Add these to the 12 they will gain in the 20-30 census which explains why democrats want illegals to stay in the country and be counted in the census. They could lose 20 seats

So what. Democrats have already gerrymandered the hell out of the blue states. Multiple states that have 30 to 40% repub citizens have ZERO representation. This is merely the repubs no longer being the democrat party bitches, and they are now using the same tactics.

Democracy

We're reaching a point where elections are simply an illusion and the parties are appointing oligarchs to make decisions for us.

One day our country of morons might smarter up and create independent commissions of mathematicians to draw the districts based on census results.

Might.
That’s what Texas did, Simp.

The ruling or that redistricting certainly is no guarantee for the Republicans. All it did was make the districts more competitive so that it was possible for a Republican to win. A Democrat could still win in those districts as well.

Meanwhile states like New Mexico deliberately redistricted to make it darn near impossible for any Republican to win a congressional seat.

It is now apparent that in the USA, that has been the case for many decades. The deep state has been running the show.

Trump's election has proven that to be true.

No you can't, because it has been a long time since we caught democrats gerrymandering to disadvantage a race and getting called out for it in the courts.
They just went from gerrymandering to advantage a particular race to using it to gather power to do whatever they desired to do, which includes passing legislation to advantage one race over others.

How is it stealing democracy?

Here is the flaw in you analysis, Taz. MAGA and conservatives don't give a damn about democracy. They insist we are not a democracy. If you don't give a damn about democracy then it should be no surprise that they will do everything in their power to undermine it. It is not rocket science. It is want they believe.
