What would happen if we stopped subsidizing farmers? Would we starve to death? Would the big farms close their businesses, and stop producing crops? Would the price of food be unaffordable?

Or, would farmers do nothing except complain, and continue to grow crops?
Is it possible for farmers to make a profit and continue producing without subsidies from the government?

Some years ago, I read that if not for tax subsidies to cattle ranchers, hamburger would cost the consumer $15 a pound.

That would make it unaffordable for 90% of the population. Ranchers would either go out of business, or be forced to cut expenses to the bone.

Farmers should all be proud. Each one of them right now, as we speak, is out standing in their fields.
